Hey, one of my first time posting here, posted on the other site a bunch, I been trying to get motivated to get one of my projectors on the wall. Hung the screen about a month ago. I have a Nec XG751 non lc. Don't have the ceiling mount for it and one of the feet is busted off. Ill grab a pic when I get home. The metal is bent and twisted and the threaded insert is out. Other projector is not as good. So I wont mention it now. I can do a fairly good setup but One spot is always off. Point doesn't seem to help how far its off, so the physical setup needs lots of work to get it right. I have the opportunely to get a marquee 8500 with fairly new tubes and the ceiling mount for cheap. My Nec is about 6.5 on the green and 7 for blue and red. Is it worth fixing the Nec and try to find the ceiling mount or sell both projectors and go with the marquee?

Go with the Marquee. The parts availability is key now. The Marquee scans higher and is easier[within reason] to set-up.

If the price is right, and you've got the cash I would part out the other two sets and buy the Marquee.

If for some reason the Marquee doesn't work out -- you don't need feet or a ceiling mount. I mounted my XG852 using two pieces of unistrut bolted to the bottom of the XG case, then used threaded rod to hang it from more strut on the ceiling. See http://www.curtpalme.com/MountingMethods.shtm for a similar example.

I dont think I can use the unistrut method. I have 3 legs to be able to screw into. The case is damaged on the corner where the unistrut would mount too. Ill grab a picture of the managed corner.

Do NOT use the foot locations! As you can see that's no place to hang an NEC from.
The correct set of holes to screw into and hang it from are more toward the middle of the chassis on the bottom

Ive got that one, I also have the service manual hard copy and all the other manuals for it. I keep forgetting to send curt my remote to fix it. I left batteries in the remote too long and blew a battery up in the case.

Just make sure you don't end up with an XG on the floor

Do not use the feet mounting points to hang the PJ,
thay are not structural and can't bear the load.

Exactly! You are first, I will be second or third - whatever!
It didnt seem the point was heard or understood - PJ falls,
somebody gets hurt...or dead....

I found a few types of channel. All of them are the 7/8 width size too. Should I go with 1 5/8, 13/16, or 1 3/8 tall? Or is that just personal preference? Then should I go for the round opening or the half slot opening? And finally 12 gauge or 14 gauge? Since my dealer has all of them in stock. And got to go with a black one too, not liking the gold one that home crapot carrys.

One more quick question, throw distance, I have a 1:78 and 92 diag, I think . Ill go home and measure tonight to make sure of the size. I Think I estimated between 120-112 inches away. Can somebody double check my numbers because Im not sure that have more then 150 total. thanks

To get your throw distance you need to set the projector up on the floor, run a signal to it, maximize the rasters and then move the projector forward and back 'till the image fills your screen.
That's your correct throw distance
