Gentlemen,

I need the distance from the deepest point of the HD10 C-Element to the 9" tubeface. I did receive that number with an 8" LC tube by removing the C-Element and then putting coins on the center of the tubeface. After every coin I had added, I tested if the C-Element would have contact to the mountain of coins when reinstalled/put back on. When it had contact to the coins, I took out the coins and measured the thickness of the coins.
Probably you people have a different approach to this, but I would be grateful if someone could measure this on a burnt and unmounted tube. I donīt have a 9" tube....

Best regards from Munich

3 to 4 mm - depending on type of housing (sony, barco, marquee, etc)

Hello,

and thanks for your interest and help. I will certainly provide details and pictures when I have finished my project.

"Tim in Phoenix: Hello I can do this over the weekend. You want the space in the center of the c element right? "

Thanks....and yes! I am happy that I was able to verbalize my problem.

"zGman 3 to 4 mm - depending on type of housing (sony, barco, marquee, etc)"

Thanks....at first this sounds really narrow. When I did measure this on a G70 chamber, I put 5 european 10 cent coins in it to get contact with the tubeface and the Element. That was close to sth. between 6-7 millimeters if I recall it correctly.

And then I wonder about the variation in 3-4 millimeters. should it not be the same with all systems because of the same Elements and lenses being used in the HD10 series.
The HD10 Lens line is ccompletely interchangeable! How does it allow a difference of 25 percent and more? But I guess this is tolerance computer calulated into HD10 system.

For example: The Barco 8" Element is not as deep as the G70 Element, but it is mounted in the place/distance (I guess this, because I only have a burnt G70 tube. I use my Barco Elements on a ddifferent system. I mounted the Barco Elements in the same distance like the G70 Elements. Hope this is correct by the way, pprobably someone can add the Barco 8" Element distance. Interresting for all LC conversions that use parts from different systems like a Barco chamber with G70 Element). So when there is more distance from the less deep Barco Element to the tubeface then it is with the G70 system because of that depth difference, it works together with the corresponding Barco HD117 lenses. But this is certainly a completely different story as it is a different lens system.

But:
On my test with 8" Elements if found out that even a small increasement or decreasement in distance from Element to the tubeface, resulted in a worse corner focus. The optimal focus was then far behind the screen. I was too close with the Elements on these tests. ...I should try to mount the Element more far away, probably will get me then more curve screen range for the 8" LC lenses....but that will be an other project.

So, thanks for the 3-4 millimeter you provided that fast. But it would be nice if that numbers can be validated by someone else. But as ZGman wrote, please add your system(sony, barco, marquee, etc).

Best regards from Munich

I'm curious why this is a issue? There is only one brand of projector that has a "fixed" distance between the c-element and tube face. All the rest move with the lens to suit the installation. If you are using the correct lens for the application and follow the manufacturers instructions for mounting and aiming the projector, you should not have a problem.
I've been involved with CRT projectors for over ten years and I think this is the first time I've heard this question.
