I am trying to build an office / theater room and looking for opinions.

Only thing I need is I want it to be capable of 1920 x 1080 res for my pc and want the price point to be around 1 - 1.5K if possible.

What should I go with?

Thanks!

Well, since he's posting in the CRT projector forum, I'm going to assume he's asking about a CRT projector.

I'll get a bunch of grief for this, but IMHO, for a multi-use space that shares activities with a home office, I wouldn't bother with CRT at this point - especially if you want it to be "1920x1080 res for your PC" and the price to be around $1000-1500. For that price, you could work your ass off and wait awhile to try to find a nice clean 9" machine (which is the only way you're going to get a relatively sharp 1920x1080)... Or, for a third of that price, you could find a decent 8" LC machine like an XG (not ideal for 1080p) or a G70, which would be fairly soft at 1920x1080... Or, you could get something like a new Epson 8350 or a used JVC RS-2.

There's also a used Sony VPL-VW50 for a cool grand shipped from Idaho on AVS right now. If my CRT died, I'd be PMing that guy to try it out. This was the hot-sh*t $5000 Sony SXRD 3-1/2 years ago at CEDIA, and now you can buy one used for a grand.

ok, disregard the message above, get a marquee 8500 ultra or maybe a 9500 ultra and add the peaking circuit and you have a pj that resolves 1080p perfectly well and gives you a picture beyond anything you ever wished for.(that is crt in a nutshell Smile).
