I have an XG-135 and am installing a Moome card. The HDMI is coming from a Lumagen XS.

I need some help getting this set up. Previously, the XG used RGBHV from a VisionPro. But it died and I am upgrading to HDMI.

What do I need to do to get the projector to recognize the new card. If there is a tutorial or thread that would be great. The initial set up was done by Terry F. Although I watched him set it up, that was years ago and I do not recall all of the steps. I have the manual, but am not sure what steps I need to take.

Help is greatly appreciated,

Mark

Where I am...

I have the Lumagen installed, the Moome card installed with confirmation it has power. When I start the pj, it does not sync to a signal. And when I press operate, the menu is distorted.

The Moome card is in the third, or upper, card slot. There is a standard RGBHV and a component card.

First, is installing the Moome card in the slot I have it in acceptable? Or do I need to remove one of the existing cards and replace it with the Moome?

If I leave it whare it is, do I need to do the following:

Operate/Input Select/Input C RGB?

If that is correct, then I need to set the source information. Not sure what I need to do there.

I know this is real basic stuff, but I am stuck.

Not an NEC user but it would probably be best to copy your existing input settings to the input memory for the new moome card location.

Not sure how its done, I use marquee's but thats is what you do there. I assume it be similar with maybe another step or two.

Understood, except I am still working up the learning curve on exactly ho wto do that. If I can get far enough that I get a picture, the next steps will be clearer.

You can engage the third slot input by pressing 7 (for SLOT A press 1, SLOT B press 4). When you press 7, you should see an LED on the moome card light up. If a signal is connected you should get some kind of picture. Next, create a NEW INPUT, designating slot C RGB as the input and the last step is to copy an existing input's setup info of an input closest to the resolution you will be inputting to the HDMI.

Thanks Jerry,

I had gotten that far from the manual. My two problems now are that I sometimes get a picture, sometimes not.

If I press Operate/Input Select/(then the number of the entry I want)/Enter...... It should change to that input right? I does not. Or at least it does not appear to do anything.

I still get video information from the Lumagen. That is the menu is displayed. So it is receiving a signal to the projector.

The second problem is that there is horizontal banding when I do have a picture.

So problem one, I am evidently clueless on how to set up the inputs. What I have tried is to copy the existing source information to register 8 and 9. Then change the input from A to C. Then go to Operate/Input Select and select the new input. I hear a relay, but no picture.

Well crap. I have messing around with it and now I get picture. Except the geometry is so far off. When I turn the pj of and back on again I lose the picture. Still get the Lumagen menu, but no input from the player. I have tried all of the inputs, so the Lumagen is OK.

This has to be something simple. What am I doing wrong?

turn the player off and back on. Is it a BD player? Might be HDCP issues. HDMI sucks sometimes

That does suck. Turning the player on and off did not do it, but putting the Lumagen in standby then back on made the handshake.

Thanks.

You did so good with that how about another question.

Why is the geometry so screwed up now? The rasters are off and the picture moved right and down.

What was your old resolution? I bet it was different.

There is an adjust resolution section in the lumagen. where you'll see top l and bottom R or TOP L and BOT R. here is where you can adjust the image into the correct location. Or you can do it in the PJ first and then tweak it in the Lumagen.

There is other resolutions you can try as well for BD.

I would try this resolution from the Lumagen for the XG for 2.4 aspect Blu ray movies.

Set it up for 800p@72 hz. So it be a 1920x800p @ 72 hz refresh rate.

in the lumagen is a shrink function to correct for the image being to TALL . I forgot where it is exactly. Or it mght have been in the older Lumagens. But there should be a way to "squeeze" it down.

Its called Active Are Scanning. Read about it here

I will give it a shot. Sometimes the Lumagen manual is not clear if you are unfamiliar with all of the commands. I have not messed with it much other than the basics when I had the VisionPro.

Thanks
