TV/Projector: All of them!

Posted: Fri Feb 11, 2011 3:19 pm    Post subject: Trolling for CRT projectors

Been trolling the local internets for CRT projectors to see what's out there, and ran across the following descriptions:

This is a SONY D50 CRT projector, this projector has a native resolution of 1280x1024 and with its built in line doubler can support resolutions up to 1080i. I don't have the time or the room to set up and contain this unit. I received it as a gift and have had no use for it as I already have a projector. These projectors are known for there long CRT tube life and quiet operation. It puts out little heat and all three of the screens power up and show images. Both remotes are included as well as the projector mount. The projector has two retractable handles (one on each side) for ease of movement as these units are heavy and without them it would not be fun. This actual unit sold originally for 6500 dollars as they were top of the line. For very little cost you can have a High Definition movie room, current units of comparable quality sell for $11,000-$15,000.

Low hours on new(ish) tubes but there is a burn in on the green tube.

speaking of trolling, I haven't bothered to get smart on this yet, but I know there are some RSS/auto-searches a person can setup for craigslist that can dramatically save trolling time for hard-to-find, very-specific things over long distances. For example, I've been trying to find the original, electric pizza stone for our 14yr-old Gaggenau oven. I got outbid on the ONE NIB one that has appeared on ebay in last two years. some idiot was willing to pay $205 (this fool only to $202.50). I *know* that bugger is out there on craigslist selling for $25 obo somewhere.

anyone do this? any great results?

Matt

Do you need D50 parts or something?

I see people trying to sell them all the time for 2-3000 bucks, people are insane.

What blows my mind is that so many people don't research their goods before listing them. I don['t know squat about a lot of things I might sell, but a couple of seconds on google (or posting dumb questions here) gets me the info I need.

No one needs to be an expert on everything, but posting things like 'native resolution' or saying a D50 is top of the line is just being lazy.

There's a Marquee 8000 on eBay for only $3,900. The add also says "We would be happy to help load on your truck at no charge..."

I bet they would. Laughing

Every now and then a D50 pops up on the local CL and they are asking 2k or more. I usually send them an e-mail letting them know that I have bought 3 of these over the last few years for no more than $150 each.

I found my Zenith on CL all the way out in Fort Wayne, IN by using a 'site:http://*.craigslist.org [Enter Search Term Here]' if that's what you mean. There was a nice NEC XG-135 in the TO area a week or more ago I wish I could of had.

We all know what the price of a brand new AmPro 4600HD was. I have the deal of the century. To the first taker, I'll sell two refurbed 4600HD complete with brand new tubes, remotes and ceiling brackets for half the price of one new one Wink

Do you have four? If you are willing to sell two for half the price of one, can I buy four for 1/4 of the price of one? How does this work? Will you hold them for me until I can come see them? Please take down your listing. I'll send my shipping company to pick up all 6 once I receive the shipping deposit from you. Please use Western Union to send you deposit directly to my shipping company, which, oddly enough, only takes payment in my name.

Please do this quickly. Don't forget to remove your add immediately and send me your deposit so we can make this deal.

I'm the only one that finds it ironic that you'd complain about this considering your $1800. Ampro that's been on ebay for what, 4 years without a single bid ? Laughing

Actually I wasn't complaining about their selling price at all, but the D50 was around $12K minimum, if not more. No way unless it was B stock in say 2004-5 would it be going for $6500.

My point was that a lot of sellers don't do research before posting stuff, and just try and win people over by quoting BS..

With the govenment putting the boots to aftermarket HDMI solutions, the value of CRT to a newbee is zip.
The best CRT projector in the world ain't worth squat if it can't be hooked up to HD Crying or Very sad

I use www.statewidelist.com a lot for anything on CL. Its a craigslist search engine for CL and gives matching results from ebay if you are looking at ebay stuff.
