Left my friend at home playing mame on my data 808 while I nipped out only to come back to find a blank
screen and an explanation that the projector made a loud pop and left a buring smell.

I fired it up and everything seems ok except that there is no HV crackle ( and obviously no picture).

So Im suspecting either the quad or EHT board, I have two data 500s lying around and wonder whether I can do some swapping around to narrow down the problem. ( I think I could do some case modification to fit the quad from one
of the 500s)

Im asking are barco data 500 quad / eht modules compatible with my data 808 ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Probably a capacitor let go. Check for blown caps in the power supply.

The set is old enough that capacitor lifespan issues are a possibility.

Ive replaced the eht and quad from the data 500 and all is well again, in fact its better than before !

An issue i posted previously (with what appeared to be interference) has gone. Smile

Thanks again, without this forum I would have been stuck long ago.

TV/Projector: Barco BG809s

What Barco part number is the EHT? The early EHT boards would ramp up the HV very quickly and in my 1101 would kill tubes. The later EHT R76XX27 helped fix this problem. The 808 would have had the later EHT.

I used a matched quad and eht from the barco 500 data, the part numbers appeared to match with the 808.

The part number detailed in the pdf available on this forum that describes the modifications needed to fit the newer
eht does not match the part number of the parts I installed.

I ran the set for around 4 hours last night without problems.

There is a dearth of data 500s availble the uk at the moment, and if theses parts hold out then
it may be an answer to the shortage for Curt and crew of the lack of quads.

Alternativley, I maybe just talking out of my rear end.
