Hey guys. It's been years!

Just felt like venting to some of the old-timers.

Seems like you were years ahead of me in leaving AVS for friendlier pastures.

Not only have I been immediately, summarily, and permanently banned from AVS Forum, NO moderator is willing even to identify himself to me, nor provide any real reason for it, besides apparently one frustrated post (out of >20,000)

No warning, no "gee we're sorry but we think you're an ******* and last straw," no nothing.

Not even the fortitude to tell me anything at all.

That's about as low as one can go in treating someone who has been around for so long and shared so much back with all the people who in turn shared so much with me.

I guess it's been a long time coming, but AVS really has gone off the cliff.

It's sad. Crying or Very sad

Looks like I might just have to drag my CRTs out of storage to fit back in with yall. Shocked
I have forgotten how to spell scheimfplug. shiemplug? schiemfplug? sheimflug? Sad

Welcome back! Lots of us new guys around here too. We're all pretty friendly though. Smile

I don't think anyone here would complain if you brought your 3 eyed beasts out again.

Nothing to do with the site being down no?

http://maintenance.avforums.com/

I did a Google search and an AVS page came up as a result. When clicked I got this:

AVForums are currently offline while undergoing maintenance

We will be back as soon as possible.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

AVForums team.

Lotree,
IS that AVS or AV? I am currently posting over at AVS.

That sucks, Chris. My guess is they decided to side with tbrunet. Mr. Green

I figured they would at least give you a warning, but I think Tom didn't get a warning either. I know it upsets Darin, but I consider the "S" to stand for sales not science. I don't really learn much over there anymore. It seems to be more about pushing product and not just by AVS (which is understandable and acceptable).

Hey chris this is your last post there:

I can't fathom how you could possibly trust IMDB more than a tomato, the only fruit which has the magical powers of suddenly becoming a vegetable when mashed into a sauce.

Believe whatever you want. But you CANNOT DENY THE TOMATO!!!

:p

Whats wrong with that?

But it shows you online as well?

weird....

Oh no no, definitely not. Upon logging in to AVS I am presented with this splash screen:

"You have been banned for the following reason:
Posting just to incite others

Date the ban will be lifted: Never"

And via email, after no clear reason at all except to lie to my face and no one identifying himself whatsoever:

"
...
If you disagree and simply need a 'We don't like you anymore', than so be it.

...
"

"This is coming from the administration team of AVS Forum, not a single person. We now consider this matter closed."

No warning. No reason. No names. No "hey look we know you've been here forever and appreciate that, but I/we(of some name) have decided to take this action because of X,Y and Z."

I mean, I could accept that. Silly, but whatever, it is their forum. Instead, nobody will say anything to me, I have no idea who I'm talking to, and they clearly have nothing coherent to say except make up some excuse and then lie to my face about it.

What is this, the third grade? "Susie told Jimmy that Justin heard from Sue that Sally said something mean about Johnny!"

Except nobody will even bother to stand behind his own decision. How puerile is that?

Oh, and from what I can discern, the single thing that justifies such nonsense was this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee6Raji8ojc

It's an ironically appropriate characterization of my feelings in response.

No, they deleted my last posts. (and I mean, come on, this one is clearly sarcastic, I would hope that's not a reason!)

Admittedly justified I guess, but then again I was being trolled by dlarsen as usual with the same pictures from like three years ago.

And so I gave him a bunch of images which he promptly ignored, so I told him he was being completely ridiculous, wouldn't take any evidence or have any kind of reasonable discussion over all these years and to "blow it out your ass."

Just being truthful. That's how I felt. That's how I still feel. I tried pming him once and talking about his system because I was under the mistaken impression he was using a G70 and he was a total jackass in response, called me names, that I didn't know what I was talking about, that I was lying, etc. etc. etc.

I mean, I remember Darin and others asking him and tbrunet to "put up or shut up."

I guess I'm just a lightning rod in my 0.0001% of such posts.

You try to ignore people like that, but in the course of twenty thousand posts, one says some flippant, silly, or argumentative things. Such is life.

It makes me want to agree with Ronholm about a bunch of namby-pambies getting their tender feelings boo-booed. Shocked

Hey, Chris... If you're going to be around here more often, does this mean we can spar over global warming, er.. I mean, climate change again?

Wink

Just messin' with ya.

Welcome back, ya... Never mind. Wink

Just kiddin'.

I rarely ever look at AVS anymore. Two threads I follow - one is our Iowa meet thread a bunch of us locals chat in, and the other is Itai's iRule thread. Other than those two, almost nil.

Cheers,
SC

Sorry to hear the bad News Chris,
FWIW they also Band Aussie Bob after GetGray posted A review of Aussie Bobs new Scope lens(CrystalMorphic) & how it compared to the Isco..
But in all fairness to AVS it was A direct competing product that was being promoted on AVS without AVS's permission I assume..

Cheers...

Welcome back!

We like digitals too. No problems there. Wink
Many have moved over. There's room for both. I like to think of this as a HOME THEATER forum. For people who have a common love of movies and the technology used to reproduce them at home.

I like the idea! We have 'ranks' here that, other than for Curt and myself, I've never used. I now added a third rank and assigned it to Chris. Take a look at what's now under his name in his posts. Wink
