Hello all,

I retubed myBG1209s (1997 model). I had an arcing problems with the blue tube, so I ordered a new HV lead from Curt. Today I wanted to put the blue tube back, when I noticed that the air bubble in the plastic hose of the red tube had gotten significantly bigger Sad

I found that there actually is a glycol leak between the cast aluminium chamber and the thingy (don't know the proper name) that the plastic hose goes onto. Strangely enough I did not even touch the hose on that side.

What is the best way to repair this? I am very tempted just to put some RTV sealant around it.

Cheers

Gerbrand

Added RTV could work.

Better way would require to partly empty tube. Then remove hose coupling peace and clean it and thread. Then reattach it with something like Loctite 577.

This doesn't sound like a 1209s tube. they didn't have rubber/plastic hoses. That sounds like a plain 1209 tube..

It is though. Early 1209s did not have variable SP, so they have a fixed SP. You can see pictures of my LC chambers (with the old tubes) in an older topic. https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=21765.html. The part I am talking about is not visible but is located underneath the plate that is taped over.

Wow, OK, I've never seen a 1209s with 1209 tubes.

If you can't get the leak stopped (very common on those older housings), then I have another housing that you can have really cheap. Transferring the tube isn't hard.

I have those same housings in my 808s, 8" tubes needed adapter plates to fit in 9" housings. Very Happy
