I finally bought a Blu Ray player and have been attempting to get it to work tonight with my Electrohome ECP 4100 and HDFury II.

Initially, the vertical sync was really messed up and the image was not stable. I was able to get that fixed, but now the big problem is that the picture is split. Imagine taking the top half of the picture and putting it at the bottom of the screen, and vice versa. The picture is also refreshing too slowly so that it flashes, like an old CRT computer monitor set to refresh at low frequencies. The picture also does not cover the entire screen area (only about half, on the left side). All of this occurs only when I am playing a non-blue ray disk (I have only tried one disk as I have just started hooking up the new player tonight, thinking it would be simple). I get a good picture when I work through the setup menus for the blu ray player as well as the projector set up screens.

Does anyone out there have any thoughts?

In the Troubleshooting section of the Sony manual, the following is stated under improper picture output: The HDMI out jack is connected to a DVI device that does not support copyright protection technology. Could this be a clue?

Should I ever expect this combination of DVD player and projector to work correctly?

Thanks. I'm a novice, so any advice is appreciated.

Turn off (disable) 24hz/24p output in the BD players setup menu - that should fix your problem.
