What is the highest the brightness and contrast controls of the nec xg lc be set to ensure long tube life?
I am at the point now where I am going to use the avs hd 709 bluray to set black and white level and what to ensure I am not going to roast the tubes to get the values I need.

ex 60 brightness, 43 contrast

Are you using anything for gamma boost? I ask because you can lower your brightness some and then compensate with gamma boost from something like the Crescendo RTC2200.

I have a moome internal hdmi 1.3 card installed. The newest version.

That can do gamma boast.

That's the same card I have in my XG. When I had Ken Whitcomb here for calibration he ended up turning it all the way down or off on the card. Do you have a scaler? I seem to recall you were using a VP50 right?

TV/Projector: All of them!

THere isn't a set value because the levels will be dependent on what screen size you're using, what the input signal level is, and what you want to get out of the projector.

I've seen people brag that their brightness and contrast are at 30 each on the projector, but they've taken the internal B and C and almost maxed them out on their scaler. Ditto for turning the B and C way down in the scaler and then having to boost the B and C to almost 100 within the projector to compensate.

So all I can tell you for sure is:' the lower the better'.
