I am looking for my next purchase. I am coming from a LCD rear view projector... a 5 year old set.... while great pictures... a lot of things have changed since then... when it was one of the newer and best technology then. I've always wanted to go the way of front view projectors, but I am a bit ignorant as to the drawbacks if any?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You are going to have to do some reading.

The biggest drawback to FP is ambient light, so most FPs are in dedicated HTs or are in light controlled rooms. Next would be set up and install, but that isn't to big of a deal for most. Another drawback would be cost, as a lot of flat panels have gotten cheap.

With a budget of $2500, I would get either the JVC HD250 or the new Epson LCOS.

Spanky thanks for the heads up... and I will do some reading... at work... figured it'd be a good and quick way to get a starting point, but I'll start with the couple of models you gave me.
