How long can the raster be off the tube face before it overheats and implodes. When i first turn on my NEC PG, all three tubes light up with a wicked, spider web looking raster and one corner goes off the tube face on all 3 tubes. I wonder how long i can leave it like this before it does damage as it takes time to shift it back normally.

If it's blank raster, then for a long time. An all white 100IRE image, not long at all.

Can't comment on NEC's but i've seen Marquee 8 inchers with the raster actually burned and wrapping around the face of the tube.

What, really? So the tube wear was so large that you could see it run right off the sides of the tube face?

Maybe Curt can confirm this but I think the type of tube itself makes the biggest difference. Some of the older 07ms and small tubes like that seem to be hard to crack even with full white at high contrast over tube face for long periods of time.
