Thanks crabb, I will be getting the projector this friday, its just for gaming party nights, so IF I cannot get it repaired I can still use it as it is since 90% of the image is still normal.

$23 was a steal at any rate, for a digi with a working bulb! and its XGA so its half way tolerable Very Happy

I will keep everyone posted about the issue as I work on it. Hopefully I can get it back into good viewing operation! I still cant beleive someone paid $8000 for it, I sure didnt Mr. Green

Whew, that's an old one. I'll be curious to hear what you find when you tear into yours... After I tear into mine, we can compare notes. Wink

That looks like the dichroic combiner block is mis-alighned.

So that is something that may be fixable? That would be great!

And yeah SC, it is an old one, but it does what I need it to do, certainly something I would never use for my own main screen Smile

It arrives tomorrow so hopefully I can get it fixed within a couple hours after getting it apart Razz

Well I got it today, fired it up and it works pretty good! Except for the dichroic issue Razz Im surprised at how low the lag is from the LCD panels, will be good for gaming.

Plan to rip it apart yet today and see if we can get the colors back to normal. I'm just glad to see normal coloring throughout the majority of the screen (too bad they arent anything close to CRT quality Smile)

Also... I dont know if anyones had this 10+ year old machine, or one like it, but are there fan adjustments? I mean wow they really spin.. They could cool a few lamps off!

Ok Ive got it apart, what a task that was! Ill take CRT any day for that fact alone!

Anyway, I have the light engine opened up, attached is a photo of it... where is the dichroic block? Is it the block right before the lens where the LCDs converge?

Alright well, I have fixed the color issue, however, the projector was getting to be a bit more involved as I took it apart so I put it back together before I fixed it, turned it on, and tapped it accidently but saw the color shift back a bit to where it should be...

I tapped it a couple more times and voila! We have a perfectly good projector for $23!

The only bad thing is the bulb is near its EOL and has about 320 hours left, and the bulb also has a very minor crack on the back of it so Im not expecting it to last more than a couple hundred hours anyway.

All in all, a steal!

Thank you to those who pointed me in the right place!

Hey when all else fails, its a good practice Razz

Got the epson hung up, 2 down and 2 to go! Just picked up a Proxima Pro A/V DP9300 for the 3rd, 4th might be a proxima DP9260...

The 9300 takes 630W of juice for its 400W 1000 hour bulb!! Good thing its only getting used for about 8-16 hours a month Smile

If that wont make you stick with CRT then I dont know what will Razz
