Setting up my G70 and the manual says :

since the remote control uses infra red you can use it without a wire.
However, in order to correctly control the projector, you should connect the
remote control to the projector with the supplied remote control cable.

I dont have a cable.
There is a control exactly like the remote hardwired to the pj
should I use that instead of the remote since i dont have a cable
Is it really necessary to have the remote wired?

I think that the manual states that because it has a guaranteed signal being sent to the projector to make it easier so when your using it you dont have the projector not receiving the infared signal because of the angle your at or something blocking the signal.

If the remote works fine without the wire as far as signal then theres no real reason, I think the wire is more if you have a very large setup like a conference room.

Just my 2 cents Smile

Nope, not necessary. It can be pretty convenient, though.

It's just a 3.5mm M-M mono cable if you want to get one. I use mine when I do full setups because you can leave it in your lap or hold it to be comfortable or easiest to see instead of worrying about which direction you're pointing it.

IIRC, you can use a stereo cable (available at Rat Shack).

Great, Thanks for the info, I know it seems dumb but I was concerned.
Thank you very much
