I have a marquee 8500 that I thought I had maximised the raster on when it was on the floor. However, now that its on the ceiling, I see that the raster is not maximised. Once I increase the raster width, I will have to move the projector back to accomodate the increased screen width.

I have plans of mounting the HD-145 lenses on the marquee and with that the projector needs to be moved forward.

So questions is wouldn't the combination of increased raster width and the HD-145s balance each other somewhat, so that I dont have to move the projector at all ? Or will I run into focus issues ? I can live with a little less than max raster.

What I am trying to get out of this is better color, sharpness and brightness from the increased raster so that I can dial down the contrast.

Also I assume that the right way of increasing raster width would be thru the pots on the HDM (with a plastic tool) and then using the horiz-width to fine tune. I do have the anamorphic mod and the p7 jumper on the hdm is also set.

Now I am averse to moving the projector or removing it and remounting it. My wrist is still sprained 3 weeks from the last effort. The wife will kill me if the projector does not! This is the 3rd projector on the ceiling- I still havent gotten good at it and I did have 2 other hefty people helping me. Chains is not an option, since my mount does not have eyelets to support it.

Thanks,

Azi

I just move the screen backward or forward for testing. If you want to flush mount the screen to the wall first test then move the projector when you have the perfect distance for your screen size and lens combination...

I'm doubtful, but perhaps I'm not understanding what you're saying.

Give us some specs on the new raster-maximized width, and the desired screen width & PJ distance.

This is a bit confusing. If you increase the raster size to maximize it, the screen width will increase. Moving the PJ _back_ will also increase the screen width. If you need to shrink it to fit an existing screen, it will have to move forward. Since the HD-145's also need it to move forward (otherwise the image would be too large), the two won't cancel each other out.
