|

Hi Guys,
I've looked through the forum and found some posts about proper setting of VIM peaking circuit.
Shortly:
1) fine adjustments can be performed for only one resolution and refresh rate (say, for BD content, 1080p48 or p72). So it's better have a videoprocessor/scaler feeding the PJ with only one resolution/refresh rate
2) you need to display a pattern 1920x1080 (assuming you watch HD content) 1 pixel off/1 pixel on, better if boxed inside a solid color background
3) turn trimpots till you find best and uniform resolution for both horizontal and vertical lines; do it for each color (on remote: Color 1 for red, Color 2 for green, Color 3 for blue), then refine looking at secondary color (R+G, R+B, B+G) and RGB pattern
My question is: on the VIM there are 3 trimpots; are they intended as one for each color; i.e. center trimpot for green, left (or right) for red (or blue)? or setting each color needs a combination of regulation at any trimpot?
Thanks,
Carmine

1. Best to set at the resolution that you use that has the highest pixel clock.
2. You can use the pattern that is attached in a *.bmp file in PAINT or a viewer that does not compress the video. The top two boxes have to remain exactly one pixel on/one pixel off and one line on/one line off. (evidently one cannot attach a *.bmp file, rename the attachment to *.bmp to use)
3. There is indeed one for each color. The adjustment is made with contrast set at the level the projector is used at. Like you say adjust one color at a time. The goal is to have the upper left box the same brightness as the upper right box. If the whole screen lights up you have gone too far. Back off the adjustment. After adjusting the three colors seperately turn on all three and if the box is not white then turn down the dominant color.
