|
|
Hi,
I just got off a forum member a used EXT-HD+ moome box. It is I think the original 2nd shipment one. IT has the remote and I have read the manual. The component input works but on HDMI 1 or 2 from a HD-DVD A2 player I get all green screen or black image. I have set the jumpers inside to try various sync options but I get the same results.
Also, hitting the display button on the remote is a menu supposed to come up on screen? Does this box have any graphic overlays for settings? I have tried setting various output resolutions. Currently I have a Tanburg 32" CRT monitor and a barco 708 for testing.

I can't help with your green or black problem (since I am having my own problems), but I did find this earlier post regarding the remote functions:
| Quote: | And the Remote is extra bonus.
The function key on remote will below list:
1. ket Adjust + and – to adjust H-shift by remote.
2. key 0/100 is adjustment for maxima and minima gamma at RGB output mode
3. key 1 and 2 to select input when both hdmi link is active.

I too was pressing everything expecting some OSD, but I don't think there is one. I have only tested the H-shift buttons, which do seem to work, albeit a little erratically.
While you're waiting for a real response you could try making sure that the h-shift is not near the extreme right limit. At least on my unit the display gets really dark (but never black) on just the last few steps of the right shift.
Does your monitor indicate that your sync is OK, but you just have a green or black screen?

Roger,
Thank you. This makes me feel better. Why is this not in the manual? Sync is OK and shows correct freq. I am going to try another HDMI source at different resolutions. The image I get is all black or full 100IRE green. So if I hit 0 it is gamma boost 0 if I have not messed with the trimmer inside the unit?

I'm thinking I saw a picture somewhere of this remote with an earlier, discontinued product, possibly the earlier version of the EXT. The remote may have been adapted for some limited functionality of the v2 unit without much (any?) fanfare, which may explain why it is not in the manual.
Your question about the gamma is the very reason I have not played with that button (I didn't even know how to interpret 0/100). I can see how the h-shift on the remote and the box itself can play together, but how the remote can override a pot setting-I'll wait on that.
Hoping that Moome or someone will check in here soon with our other issues.
UPDATE-I'm not sure we are talking about the same unit. I saw that you mentioned component inputs, which I don't have. Everything I said is in reference to the EXT-FullHD v2, so ignore what I said if yours is different.

There's no OSD on the EXT-HD. You also can't change resolutions on it in any way except by doing so at the source. Whatever supported resolution goes into the box, comes out of it. I don't know if later versions had H-shift, but my early one does not. That's one of the reasons I upgraded to the EXT-FullHD V2 when it was announced.
Although the basic gamma control is a pot, the EXT-HD's remote does control the gamma, with its effective range set by the pot. For instance, if the pot is set to its upper stop, the remote can lower it, while with the pot set to its lower limit, the remote can raise the gamma. A red LED on the box illuminates when the gamma has been taken to the max number of clicks (20 or 25, IIRC) available to remote-controlled adjustment.
