I use a JP1 programable URC-8811 with my Barcos no problem. I believe any universal remote worth its salt should work with Barcos. In fact, I am pretty sure I have seen pronto remote codes out on the Internet for Barcos.

I'm surprised there are no Barco codes on remote central.

As far as I know there are two sets of Barco remote codes. The pre-2001 versions which are common across the digital chassis Barcos (70x/80x/120x) series and the later codes used on all post 2000 or thereabout Barcos. Those latter codes are the pain in the rear ones to find. Greg when he got the 909s had to buy the orginal remotes from Barco. In any case the 701s should work fine with your 808 and 1208 Barcos.

Yep, the codes for my Zenth (Cine 8 Onyx) are different than my 1208/2. The Cine series remote is also nicer looking and has a cool red backlight.

Anyway, I hate touchscreen remotes--I gotta have buttons! I was able to learn all the codes for both the old and new Barcos to my Home Theater Master remotes. I currently use an MX-500 in the theater. I love it because it is such a powerful remote the PJ gets the bounce off the screen with no problem. Heck, my IR light control on the back wall gets the bounce of the screen (that is 11' to the screen, then 18' back to the light sensor!).

Yeah you are right the newer Barco remotes are much nicer. Of course for the $400 bucks they cost from Barco they should be. I tried to program a JP1 remote for the newer Barco but at the time at least, I could only find the pronto version and the conversion to JP1 wasn't very good so I gave up (since they weren't mine 909s).

I agree. Popcorn and Prontos weren't a good mix when I had mine. Very Happy

I've been using a Pronto for years with Barcos. See my Photo Album for the layout I use.

Pete: There are tons of Barco CRT projectors on remote central: 701s, 1208, 808, 808s, Cine7, Cine8, 800

See here:

Graphics 801 and Pronto-Neo is a no-go... The Neo can't reach high enough, apparently.

Tons of Barco IR and rs-232 codes at Crestron Wink Otherwise, I have a 10-lb sledge you can borrow to coax that Barco to do what you want. Laughing

You have to have the arms sufficient to even pick it up Wink

Did you sic Troy on me over at AVS. He's ragging on AmPro's big time. I backed him into a corner and he came out like a wild dowg. He's correct in saying that the Marquee is ultimately a better projector but, he's completely wrong about the later models of AmPro, once you get past the code thingy Wink
