Guys!

One of my 9" Marquees started out as an 8500LC. I got a call one day back in '01, guy sez he works for Rhythm & Hues Studio in Hollywood (?) and would I like to buy their broken Marquee, lvps light and it won't fire up. $500 and shipping. They were ready to park it in the dumpster. It arrives a week later, all that is wrong is a shorted cap in the wired keypad. They taped some 35mm film cans in front as lens caps, one of the cans was labelled "Sum of All Fears"; R & H did the CG effects with the missiles hitting the aircraft carrier, one of my favorite movies, and my Marquee was used in the production of it.

brand/Model: Marquee 8500
Price: $250
Tube condition: R:9 G:9 B:9
Chassis condition: 9
Working at time of purchase?: YES
date purchased: April 2009
Replaced projector: Marquee 8000 ( I sold it for $500)

Since April 09, I've converted it to a 9500LC. I have about $2K in it including the purchase price, but it's most definitely not a stock 9500.

Brand Model: Runco 1100 (Barco 1209s Data essentially)
Price: $100 each got 2 of them for total $200
Tube condition Red 9, Blue 9, Green 7 (but small wear area)
Chassis condition: Case like new both projectors had electrical problems.
Working: one partially, one not. Both projectors had bad quads (one worked intermittently), both projectors had bad convergence driver boards, one had bad SMPS, one had bad horizontal shift and focus board. Having a completely spare chassis and spare Barco HV parts made these relatively easy to fix.
Date purchased: February 2009.
Replaced Barco Data 808s, with upgraded P16 8" tubes. Sold it for $550 (in parts but kept HV section as a spare for the Runco).

Note: The green was bad enough that I got a new replacement from Eisemann theater. I did some horse trading with them and by parting out parts of the second Runco (tubes, c-elements, etc.) my upgrade to a 9" set with new green was essentially free.

I'm not sure what this is intended as you will be comparing a variety of fruits across a difference in the buying dollar, economic localization, and product condition. To claim:

... is essentially BS. Look at how many people haven't bought anything 'currently'. I would have to exempt myself since I have not recently paid anything out (i.e. bought something).

Also, let's say an American bought from Canadian refurbishing units in 2001-02 time frame. The US$ bought 50% more Canadian goods than it does now in 2010.

So, let's delete all replies for those not paying for goods this year (currently) and see how things fall.

NEC XG1101LC
Paid: Free (had to pay shipping). But was missing a Blue tube and had a HV leak. I had spares.
Overall tube condition: 10 (once blue replaced)
Chassis condition: Minor corrosion on bare steel edges. Covers dinged up. But it had been recapped (and they did it well, it works!).
Working at time of purchase: No
Purchased August 2009
Replaced: XG-751 converted to LC, 600hrs on tubes (2.40:1 wear just showing). Had it for 6 years, paid about $1k. Given away to a good friend. Had an Xtra before that.

I agree with Wan, as this is going to get you a representative pricing for today's market. To me, the best deal was probably those XGs that AVS sold back in the early 2000s.

Sony G70
Paid $400
Tube 9
Overall excellent condition
Working Yes
Purchased Jan 2010
Replaced PG9

R and H also was giving away those great 24" Sony monitors that everyone loved. My best friend said they were stacked against the front door.
