|
|
I am in an area utterly devoid of Crt projectors, and I've been pursuing a lead on a 9500lc which is about 400 miles away as a possible first projector. According to the seller, the 9500lc has 6000 hours on it and was recently removed from home theater use. The crt pictures below show substantial wear on the green tube, how much would this cost to replace? Think this is worth $950 and a long ride? James

Looks like text burn on the green and a bit of regular wear on the blue.
Also looks like you would need to replace the glycol as fungus is growing.
So new bellows would help in ease of replacing the glycol.
I bet curt might have a better Green or another member. I might have one better than that.
Have to look but i know mine needs to have the glycol and bellow replaced which i can do here as i have lots of bellows
950 is a good if your willing to spend another 400-1000 for a new/better green tube and bellows/Glycol.
PM me with your location, if its close to me i can look at it for you. i have enough marquee's and not looking for more, so I wont "steal" it from you.

Hi Spank, no thats not a burn. What it might be and most likely is, some corrosion of the aluminum that dripped down onto the tube face . Right in those two spots above the marks is where the fill holes are. they anodize the face plates first I think then tap those holes. Pretty stupid oversight I think.
I just finished up re bellowing a set for a local 9500LC owner and he had a blue tube that had no Anodizing . There were a few pretty large Pits in the Aluminum. Epoxy Paint works well for a repair.

Boy the day of the demise of the CRT projector must be near. Heywood (who doesn't post here anymore) just picked up a spare fully functional 9500LC with the 03 vim for $500.00.
Just makes you feel warm and cozy all over don't it? He's going to rob the tubes and vim from it and push the rest over a cliff.
