5000-10,000 *unique* visitors per month?? That's a whole lot more than I would have guessed. If those stats are accurate at all, a whole lot of those folks much keep pretty quiet!

That doesn't surprise me at all, actually. Don't forget that number is visitors to the domain regardless of source or where they landed.

I would guess the vast majority of that 6,000-8,000 unique vistors are the result of google and other search engine-sourced traffic. Most visitors to curtpalme.com probably googled some term, "projector" or "HD Fury" or "home theater" or "color calibration" for instance, and end up here clicking into those results pages. Then they move on once they found what they were looking for (or not).

A much smaller group may find the forum based on their search and may stick around to read/search depending what they find. Finally, there's a much, much smaller group of people that actually go to the trouble of registering and posting.

Looking at the memberlist, it looks like it averages about 5 new registrations/day, or 150/month. So, you can see only about 1 in 40 or 50 site visitors is registering.

Kal's calibration thread is also very popular all over the web too...I've seen it referenced on several different sites all over.

I know my dumb little blu-ray archiver app gets between 900-1000 hits a week so 10000 seems low actually. According to my server logs it's been downloaded over 10000 times from various links on the web. Just yesterday alone the views on the thread jumped by about 300. I don't know how many of those are search engine hits probably most are from my signature on AVS and the Slysoft forum.

That's actually off by a factor of 10. We get about 10 times that. About 75-100K unique's per month. Sometimes 150K. Actual visits are a lot higher given that most people visit more than once per month.

Yes, most folks keep quiet. Regular forum users represent only a tiny fraction of the visitors to this site. It's actually quite insignificant.

These sites are pretty crappy at trying to guess this stuff. They have no way of knowing so I have no idea where they get their info. They have to guess somewhat through search engine publically available info. Unless you have access to the server logs (like I do) to run reports, there's no way for an external sites to know true traffic of sites.

400K views in 2 years.
It's been linked to about 1,600 times from external sites.

Try googling the link: https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=10457.html

I'm happy with the exposure it's given us. It's the whole reason why I wrote it. That and because I needed a cheat sheet to use myself when I do calibrations. (Until I started using ChromaPure of course !)

Another interesting thing with http://7zoom.com/www.curtpalme.com is that it shows what sort of company we keep in our server room... the dedicated servers all around us host sites (many of which are not work safe) such as:

shortskirts.net
nonnemaiale.com
boobsview.com
pride-u-bike.com
collegegirlcash.com
cumshotpolice.com
hugefacialcumshot.net
bigtitsandcumshots.com
x-digg.com
intrigandosi.com

I think at this point you insist that we get free memberships to our 'sister' sites..Wink

Funny, I got a call from someone that came across my other site. I was floored, as I never have advertised it other than on this site, but the guy was googling speakers in Langley, and came across me. Go figure.

This site is closing in on 1 mil hits. That's probably off by as much as 100K hits, as the hit counter glitched several times, but I'm considering the existing counter to be the 'official' hit counter. Great work Kal!

I was going to point that out but then decided to kick back and see how long it would be for someone else to do it Laughing

Wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it... Smile It's great software! (Which is the whole reason why I brought it on board)

Wow, was that ever uncalled-for. Yeah, SC didn't base that on hard metrics, but where would he get any? My experience with my own sites suggests he's probably about right. And even if he's not, he wasn't attacking anyone or advocating some plan of action, just discussing the topic at hand - why the venom? Confused

Awwwwwww, isn't that sweet.

LOL, apparently you have missed a few threads here. I have been busting SCs balls a little lately and he is fully aware of it. Kind of like "a little taste of your own medicine" thing.

I really could care less about his post and he merely gave me some ammunition. I think he is more then capable of commenting back if he thought I was serious. And if he wants to PM me and tell me I'm being a little to harsh in my fun, thats fine with me. Or even post here if he wishes.

But it was kinda cute for you to defend him.... Laughing
