After a long battle with an arcing Sony, it is now working perfectly and arc free!!!
So on that note, a very big thankyou goes out to all those that helped, and extra thanks to Curt for his great service and the exceptional set of 07MS tubes as well as other items that i couldnt have got this old rig going without.
It seems as though the problem was all to do with the choice of silicone, and Permatex ULTRA BLACK RTV is not a good choice. It conducts electricity when the voltage is this high.
Thanks everyone!!

Interesting find! Just curious, what RTV / Silicone did you end up going with to make it arc free?

Selleys All Clear, it was what i had there at the time that isnt automotive type silicone, and as the name suggests it all clear. Can see through it like glass.
Before i took it all apart again, it was arcing from everywhere it could arc from and there was no stopping it. No arcs now though, lets hope it stays that way!!
