TV/Projector: Vidikron Vision 1 - Ultra

Dear All,

I have a Vidikron VPF40HD in my store room (about a year and a half) and recently, installed this projector at my friend's place just last week.

This unit was successfully set-up and was used about a week until yesterday, he told me that the image started to drift and about an hour later, there no image and he decide to turned it 'OFF'.

Today, I went to his place trying to investigate and when I started the projector, it does produced a weird popping sound and I can see that the tube is having problem to fire up (intermittent). Due to that, I decided to try by turning 'ON & 'OFF' a few times and get the same results.

Can someone please advise what I should do to solve this problem and any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Faizel

Sounds like HV arcing. I would suspect an arc at the HV cables, the HV splitter or within the HVPS under the front cover.

Open the set up and see where the sound is coming from.

Hi Curt,

I'm at home and unable to verify at his place right now. Most likely I will go to his place tomorrow at noon which is about 12 hours from now. Could it be that there are some loose wire?

What could be the primary reason for arcing? What should I do if I found the source of arcing?

No, the set has a failure, but without knowing where the arc is coming from, it's hard to say.

Hi Curt,
I've installed the replacement HVPS and now the unit is working fine.
Thanks to you.
