I just installed a Moome internal XG Full HD card in my NEC XG1352.

I can not run 1080p into the XG without scaling of porch settings due to image folding.
The Lumagen allows 1080p/24 input which I would then scale. I was running 1920 X 817/60 or 1080i/72 from the Lumagen DVI for Blu ray sources.
Now that I have this new Moome card it is capable of 12 bit video and I have confirmed that if I run my PS3 direct to the Moome it will light the 12 Bit LED on the Moome. I have also confirmed that my Lumagen is an 8 bit video chain.
So here is my problem.
If I eliminate the Lumagen I can only run 1080i/60 or 720P/60 direct from the PS3 or other Bluray player. I cannot mess with 1080i ref rates. I cannot run 1080p or 1920X817 due image fold but I will get a 12 bit video chain. I also have to run another cable from my rack to the PJ which is about 25 feet. If I want to scale SD satellite to 1280x960 I will still need the Lumagen so I will not be able to remove the Lumagen completely from my system
Now here is my question.
Of course I am going to try it out with a short cable run but before I do ----Do you guys think the return for running 12 bit video is worth the loss of 1080p and 1080i with high ref rate capability?
The purchase of a new scaler is out of the question for financial reasons.

First off which model do you have? if its the HDP/HDP PRO or HDQ you will lose the greyscale calibration for each IRE with ot them in the chain. And the primary Gamut caibration.
And if your not using these now your missing out!!!!
Use a Colorimeter with A calibration Program and use the 11 point adjustments. its the biggest improvement you will see.
And i dare to see it will be larger than the downward move from 12 to 8 bit.
Also i think you should try 1920x800p@72 and use the Lumagen timings to try to fix the image fold. just add more total pixels try 2500, the raster will get pushed off the edge of the tube possibly but you might be able to keep the image with in the tube face. Not to familiar with the NEC's

Its only a Lumagen DVI. Like the HDP but not as much bandwidth. Can not do 1920X800p@72.
I have used the 11 point adjustments a little but only eyeball so its not very acurate. I do use the timings to prevent foldover. That is the only way i could get 1920X817.
