I am trying to hear back from Martin. Almost 2 1/2 months I sent him 7 of my G90 Boards to pinpoint an issue I had posted a thread about back then. He offered to fix the problem for me. He also has my $310 new Moome V2 EXT HD box I wanted him to demo on his projector while having the boards.
He stated close to a month ago he had the problem resolved.
He will not return calls or emails now. There's more to it but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt at the moment but hoping some other members may have been in touch with him, live in California where he lives or have any suggestions for me to get them back.
I have emailed him a prepaid UPS Label hoping he ships though I am losing faith.
Thanks, Alan

How is it possible that he has zero posts and has never visited? We know that isn't accurate. Weird.

Alan, posting this thread here was just dumb, considering you've already done the same thing on AVS a few days ago and achieved what you needed and gotten your answer.

I just read that thread and nothing seems to have been resolved or answered. The only noteworthy thing was the bit about the email contact last week. Nothing wrong with posting here at all, in fact it may help someone else from being taken for a ride if thats what's going on. I do hope he doesn't have a YA board Alan.

CZ Eddie, If it happened to you I wouldn't say you were dumb posting it over here. Nothing is resolved and I also want to get the word out to protect anyone else that has had communication with Martin and thinking of sending something to him.

I am taking any measures to hopefully get them back.

With over 2400 posts at the AVS forum and many conversations before sending I felt OK sending the boards to Martin.

Unfortunately one of the boards I sent was the YA board.

I dont see a problem posting here also. I very rarely visit AVS anymore so I new nothing about it. Actually this site is more CRT orientated then AVS anymore.

Of course after the thread Prehjan posted misinformation on AVS and I had to correct him on it and it became defensive (whining because he was wrong) , I would never of sent him anything to repair. LOL

Alan,

Thanks for posting this over here. I sent a complete 1292 to Ken Hotte (Screen Goo) with $500 cash in the case because he said he could fix the streaking and improve the PQ. It was my very first projector EIGHT FLIPPIN' YEARS AGO!!!!!! I was promised my PJ completed and back many different times. At one point he said it was finished but instead of sending my PJ back, he actually took MY completed boards out of MY 1292 and gave them to another member seeking the same service from him beacause he was traveling right by his house on a job he was contracted for. So that meant that I was back to square one and now owned the other member's boards that hadn't been touched yet. To this day, I still don't have the projector back. No kind of refund. And all communication has stopped!!!!!! I've even told him to just send me the lenses, C-Elements, and focus coils and then scrap the rest or sell it off himself and keep the money. I was told by him that it was on his list of things to do for the week. Well, that was over a year ago!!!!!! So, in the end, I still have nothing to show for a 1292 and $500 cash. After speaking to a few other members, I found out that Ken kind of had a history of doing this kind of crap. I wish I had known that BEFORE shipping the PJ and cash off but oh well. Life goes on.

People need to be aware of when things like this take place with other members. Gary was once a very trusted individual for getting the SDI modded Panny players and now I don't think anyone would touch him with a ten foot pole. If these events are not reported, then other members assumingly put trust into other members just because they have many posts under their belt.

I've always wondered why Prehjan never posted here. He's very gun-ho CRT enthusiest on AVS...I thought maybe he burnt some bridges with Curt in the past. Sorry to hear about your problem with him Alan.

Mike

I must confess that I was a little confused at first like CZ. I thought the issue was resolved, but I guess not.

Alan,
Mac was in Fl not to long ago. I think I would have drove to wherever he was and hand delivered them.

I suggested to Allan that he post this on Curt's site as well after I read his thread on AVS. Allan is a nice guy and does not deserve this. I don't understand why it is inappropriate to inform the CRT community of what has happened and for him to take any actions possible to get his boards back. If Martin has a reasonable excuse for what has transpired he can post it to this thread and all will be forgiven. So far has has not posted to either thread.

I could go over to avs and post something about how digital projectors are sharper and have better ANSI than CRTs; that should flush him out. Razz

Heh! Smile

I've got no issues with this post. I've corresponded with Martin in the past, but don't ever recall dealing with him for business. You're right, he seemed to keep to himself and AVS, never signed up here from what I know.

Well I doubt anything I can say would help Alan get his equipment back - I will go on record
to say that my experience with Alan a few years ago with the puchase of a DVP-1000 was
overwhelmingly positive. Not only did he follow through with every aspect of the transaction,
my recollection is that we had at least one & probably two very pleasant wide-ranging conversations,
and I would say he is the exact opposite of "dumb" - a well educated and successful businessman
and family man and avid HT enthusiast and movie buff would be a better description. Even if he
were an *ss it would not justify losing his equipment, but to someone who is honest and helpful....
there's just no way it can be right.....

I wish you the best in resolving this...

Thank you for the kind words Craig and G.
Doc, I am sorry for your plight with the 1292. That is a crime.
It amazes me how people can take advantage of others like this. I find myself to be very trusting in others which has been a downfall at times but I like to think the best of people.
I have heard nothing from Martin yet and how things have transpired over the last 2 1/2 months I'm losing faith but not giving up.

Alan,
WHere in LA does he live? THere are a couple of people in the LA area that may be able to help you out.

Did he charge you anything to do the repairs?

Has anyone else had any dealings with Prehjan?

He is the Glendale area near LA. When he offered to do it for me he stated that so many people have helped him through Curt's and AVS forums through time he was more than happy to fix them for the cost of the replacement caps to give back to the CRT community. He said it is usually a capacitor that has gone bad.

I think there are a couple of people in the Glendale vicinity.

That is great that he was willing to do it for free, but it sounds like he was just guessing. There was probably more wrong with it then he anticipated.
