hi all, a quick question relating to an nec 6pg xtra, fitted with the optional convergence board. approx 2600 hrs on the unit , been running fine using a modified momitsu dvd player, with a modded circuit to allow a 5bnc connection to the projector, allowing for resolution changes etc etc. the projector is currently showing a -(h) and -(v) on the source info page, looking at the boards on start up, with the cover open, both red led's for h and v blink on then stay off as per info on curt's page. can u help with any suggestions to identify the problem and to provide a fix. many thanks in advance, cliffo-645

Sorry, I misread.
I thought the deflection board leds were staying lit.

Did you attempt to run 1080p 60Hz or another high frequency? I think this will fry the deflection board in a 6pg, right?
I think you need to keep this projector at 1080i 60Hz or less.

thats right, i didnt. oops. there is no picture displayed when source is connected, pulling up the source info page on the nec shows that there is no h or v lock, the display is at 15 hz, the picture is fuzzy, ( in green, on the source info page) with individual tv lines shifted as it were, so they dont line up for a smooth image, almost as if the lines have slid left or right a fraction to break up the smoothness of the picture. and yes, i was playing with the resolution on the momitsu, from 750p upto 1080i/p with higher levels of hertz. so, like icarus, did i fly too high????? thanks guys, clifton in, well, sunny yes, but a cold Melbourne.

A: Did you try another source device?
B: Even sending 1080p to this you should of just received a box saying to high frequency or something. I dont remember exactly but I have sent 1080p many times while testing boards.

Connect a CRT PC monitor to the Momitsu.

the mods to the momitsu has disconnected all other "outs", and the signal path is straight to the "added" 5bnc out, in an effort to clean up the signal path, according to the manufacturers blurb. so i need to find another crt projector to check the momitsu for operation. and i believe that these units (6pg xtra) dont have video/s-video boards.

You can still connect a CRT monitor.
You need a BNC breakout cable and a VGA double adapter.
You do need to verify the Momitsu is working before you dive into the projector.

Some 6s do have the video board, it was optional as far as i know. See if there is an option for it when you create a new entry.

hi guys, back with another plea for help. i did as suggested and got a vga to 5bnc breakout cable and hooked the modded momitsu playr up to a computer monitor, got a picture and could watch the movie. went and used the same cable to plug into the vga port on the front of the nec 6pg xtra. no picture, pulling up the test patterns showed a VERY faint test pattern. the display page showed up in full strength green, and the page's writing is jagged, as if each tv line has shifted left and right fractionally. same thing happens with the original Belden 5 bnc cable. what do i do?????????? thanks in advance, clifton in melbourne.

You did what?
There is no 15 pin VGA connection on the front of a PG!! Only the 5 BNCs for RGBHV, that is it!! The 2 black plugs that LOOK like VGA are not for picture input!!

Be easy if those two were 15 pin RGB connections!
