I'm curious what order you guys set up your projector in.
Raster/tube face setup
Optical focusing
Scheimpflug adjustments
Electronic focusing
Astigmatism control
Lens toe-in
Electronic astig adjustment
Electronic focus
Tilt
Geometry
Bow
Amplitude
Linearity
Linearity balance controls
Keystone
Pin-cushion

After mounting (throw distance/squareness)...
I think you are making a fundamental mistake in assuming there is a fixed order to follow. It is back and forth, back and forth.
For instance, to do Toe-in, I basically set the projector up once roughly, checking linearity, then centre corners of raster, then do toe-in, then refine setup, then centre corners of raster, then check linearity, then check corners again, then tweak toe-in...then do it all over.
Toe in of coarse affects flapping....which affects toe in....
Every step affects every previous step.
Back and forth.
It's not a linear process.

No, I understand what you're saying and you are correct. It's what I used to do. But it's been such a long time, that I've completely forgotten my setup tricks.
Getting ready to set up a Marquee now for the first time in over three years!
I was hoping someone would grab from the list I threw up (copied from Kal's NEC setup link) and rearrange it with all their steps, including the back'n'forth. Who knows, I might have not just re-learned what I used to know, but also learned some new tricks!

I got the Marquee ceiling mounted. I completely dissasembled it in the garage. Then hung unistrut on the ceiling upstairs. Then reassembled it piece by piece on the unistrut. I'd forgotten it's not as easy to do this with an 8500 as it is with a 9500. Where you can firmly secure each tube to the hanging chassis one by one. With the 8500's you have to "hang" each tube loosely and pray they don't fall off as you secure the mounting flange across them all.
Fired up but no crackle on the first try. Turned out to be a loose FCM or HDM. It's warming up at 30 contrast now. I'll start working on the mechanical setup. Will probably follow Kal's NEC based document or the built-in guide.

When you get it all hammered out Eddie you can:
1) Create a Marquee Tech Article for the whole world to use
2) Create (and sell) a Marquee specific setup tutorial DVD
No offense meant to Graham, but I would love to get my hands on a Marquee specific setup video.

Graham Johnson “CRT Projector Step-by-Step Setup Guide on DVD” is very helpful I am just using it.

Thanks, but the whole 8 week turnaround time on receiving Grahams video always turns me off.
Who knows what I'll be doing in 8 weeks. That's a long time in Ed's World.
If he charged the same cash and would just offer the video as a download, then I might reconsider in a weakend state of mind after eight hours of magetics setup.
No way do you guys want me creating a Marquee video. Even when I was doing great looking setups, I could never master the damn magnetics. I'd just get frustrated and leave them at "almost there".

I like how they added animated gifs to that old document!
