LMAO at Dragan. Laughing
I know you were laughing as you were saying that to Gary, so it's cool. Mr. Green
Plus, you are correct. Shocked

I picked up all four 8500's today. I kind of had to, since he would only sell as a package. He wouldn't take paypal,
credit cards or allow shipping either, so I had to drive all the way up there with cash. He was a pretty cool dude btw.

My hopes were that I could mix & match to get one great projector. But unfortunately, that will not be the case.
All four projectors have heavy wear on all three tubes. Thumbs Down
Essentially useless except as parts mules.

But in a couple months I'll probably pick up some good 8500 tubes somewhere.
Ahh well. Just another reason to buy from a reputable seller like Curt or Dragan or whoever has stepped up in the few
years that I've been gone to the flip side.

At least all four are otherwise in mint condition (aside from the toast tubes).

Blue, green, then red. In that order.

Is there a good source out there for the mini-RCA's yet? I can make my own cabling.

That HDM (04) pictured would need to be upgraded to either an 07 or later.

If you can, try to go with the 144/145 lenses.

Hey Mike, good to see you still out helping folks.
How do the NEC lenses effect throw distance? Does screen size get smaller or larger from the mounted location after a lens swap?

Did you ever move back into your house?
Was it an issue with Chinese drywall? I can't remember.

I don't remember the throw distance, but can say that the set of lenses i put on my 8500 was some of the best lenses I've seen. definitely better than the HD10L's that come on the LC Marquees. Amazingly sharp little lenses.

yes, we've been back in since 04. The problem was roofing leak.

Still recovering, still on meds from that fiasco. But much better.

Glad to see you back around. let me know what you'll need as you get back to this...

I have a bare red and green tube here, red is an 8 or 9, green is a 7...

Red:

Green:
http://www.box.net/shared/o729vpgzfm

You can have them both for $50 + Shipping from Canada (and paypal fees).

No magnetics or housings, just the bare tubes and the HV wires. I also have a few other parts that I'll throw in (I think I have 2 mini-rca cables)

In my experience, the NEC lenses don't have much effect on throw distance. One of my clients installed NEC lenses on an 8100 a couple weeks ago. He had moved his projector in anticipation of my calibration with the new lenses. We wound up putting the projector back almost exactly where he had it originally.

Yes, when I installed the HD-144s, it was slightly different than the HD8, but not by all that much. We are talking less than a foot.

It depends on the NEC lenses Craig, the Hd-145's need more adjustment of the PJ than the HD-144's, On my blend I would have had to move the PJ back more with the HD-144's if I remember correctly. When I swapped out the HD-8's on my old set up i had to move it forward about 8 inches wit the HD 144's the HD 145's would have had to move forward about another 8 inches so 16 all together.

Those statements makes no sense when looking at the spec sheet. Are the N version that different?
Here are the focal length of the different lenses. From the spec sheets in the lens thread.
HD8 140mm
HD145 135mm
HD144 127mm

LOL, yes Gary and I had a good laugh over it. I'm kind of glad You got them because room in my work-space is very limited and 4 machines take up a LOT of space

Eddie I have a re-built/updated 07P HDM here ready to go. I'll trade you for one of those parts machines Wink I'll even throw in a basic neck-card upgrade with noise filters.

BTW, I see all the pics you posted are vintage 1996 stuff, so the first thing you should do is the P14 filament heater voltage fix. I can almost gaurantee your LVPS's are the bad ones with "Hecho en Mexico" trimp pots= tube killers
Some addittional things in case you've forgoten in your time away are Anamorphic squeeze, stig snap (CLM), Dot fix (VIM),and maybe a few more.

Eddie,
By the way, not sure if your machines came with lenses, but I have a minty set of HD8s I'll give to you for the cost of shipping.
