|
|
My 909 has suddenly, out of the blue, had a problem. Whilst connected to the mains and powered down, it has lost all its settings. And I mean all its settings.
All memory blocks have gone and the runtime in the service menu is now zero for the system and all the tubes(which should not be possible I am told). Everything seems set to midpoint.
I have setup 2 very basic memory blocks (50Hz and 48Hz) and powered down. Both memory blocks were still there when I powered up. I then switched it off from the mains and waited 5 mins. The blocks still stayed.
Could a battery on a motherboard somewhere failed? If that was it would I not lose the blocks when I switched off? Anyone heard of this before?

No, the BArcos don't use batteries, and the Barcos usually don't have a memory dump. So this is rare. What version of software are you running?

If after this....you find that it gets harder to either turn off or on. It's an indication your 'controller board' is is failing or may fail.
But hopefully, this is a one time event...which has also happened on the 909 chassis.

At present it switches off and on instantly Mike. I had to replace the controller board a couple of years ago so I hope it is not that. Not cheap or readily available here.

This was one of my installations and projector has had the asstig board was replaced about a year ago
The installation has had some odd power issues that has required the main fuse box in the house replacing a few times.
But in my experience bad mains short of lightning will do not much harm other than shut a projector down
The controller board has been wiped clean somehow. Run times all settings and even the serial number has gone.
I can only think that the data was corrupted as it was being written.
The standby/operating selection changed on the above issue.
From Martins posts you can see that the projector is now writing memory blocks again and keeping settings.
I have a copy of the Barco Explorer programme but never had to use it. It seems straight forwards but If any one has actual experience it would be useful.
I'm not sure where the jumper is for instance there are three on the board
One is definitely SMPS power up over ride
One is marked W1 the other
I can see no marking on the other
Can I take a Cine9 software version 2.21 and just put it into a 909
It is about a 600 mile round trip, SO I want to be ready
Any help would be great
For years people have been trying to reset the counter on barco's. Here's one that did it but why and how?

I've uploaded the software a couple of times. Get a hold of Tomas in Sweden, he knows those sets really well.
W3 jumper needs to be jumped. Ignore the other two.
Turn on projector (large square button only), and it should then communicate with the program.
The early version of software was glitchy, version 1. XXX or something like that, but anything over version 2.XXX should be reliable.
Flash the software if you want, otherwise I would simply write this up as a random CPU crash at this point unless it does it again.

Just to be clear by software versions you mean the PJ.
I ask because the explorer version I have is version 1.0.2
Thanks for the heads up the jumper I've got two controller boards here one does not have W3 marked (for others its the one on the far side to the IRIS connector)
