Hi all,
Time to stop bugging Curt exclusively about this projector.
I got this 852 a couple of years ago from a guy near the "Bay" area with a Moome dvi card with several cables that made the $200.00 investment seem ok. At least a year ago I replaced the A drive (can't remember now what for) and after putting back the neck board of the blue tube, bent a pin. Got that straightened out and got a picture ok from input A. Left the projector lying around till recently and find now all I get from any input is a Red picture. RGB, S-video and after trying the Moome card the other day, the projector switched off with FC error code. I thought I would just use it without the Moome card for now, but picture is all red. ???

Have you pressed PIC FUNC to adjust BRIGHTNESS?
This will activate the AKB system and may fix the red issue.
And you do have the cables connected to it correctly?

Hi Mark,
Yes,
When I press the brightness function the picture goes normal for a second then back to red. All cables connected ok on RGBHV. Also tried with svideo cable and same red result directly from dvd player.

When you look into the red tube, is the red raster lit up hard with diagonal retrace lines visible?

Mark,
The raster is lit up hard, cannot see diagonal lines but when I turn on the projector it's at 75% brightness and does not go off completely until down to 1% and not gradually but all at once.

At this stage, unless Curt has any suggestions, I would be swapping neck boards with another tube.
See if the issue goes with the neckboard.
