Hi guys,

One of my 1270's just died on me...I went home early today, fired up the 1270's..(I was in the process of trying to stack the 1270's almost had the convergence lined up) made me a sandwich and wth? Only one projector is pushing out light...Hmmm what could this be? I tried to unplug and replug, it fires up with light through the tubes and then after about 2-3 min...lights go out...The previous owner mention to me it has problems...but I didn't have any problem when I turned it on 2days ago...it worked just fine...any ideas? Well, the fact that it was working, but is now not... The fact that it runs for several minutes, then shuts down... And the fact that you said you were trying to stack and had been working on convergence... Both add up to possibly trying to drive convergence too hard.

Are you doing a side-by-side or an over/under stack?

Nah, on the 1270, it can be almost anything.

When you try and fire up now, does it try to come on, then shut down, or is it dead completely. Need more info.

Over-understack...I didn't get the chance to converge them while stacked though. The other day I pulled it out and swapped it with my working projector to see if it was working...all I did was remove the blue lens to check the condition..put it back on (I didn't remove any boards out of the way either, I have a long phillips screwdrive that allowed me to get in there) turned it on and went ahead and did a rough convergence. After I hooked up a DVD player via composite. Did another rough convergence....Watched about 45 min of the movie..Shut it off..and that was that..Yesterday, I got help from my brother to put them into the stack configuration, mounted one up (working) and left the other in the same position on the table (non-working)...what should I look for first?

Turns on with light, then lights go out, but fans are still running and the LED light on the rear is on...

Then I'd say it's on the wrong input? DO the internal menus still come on along with the test patterns when the image goes off?

Nope, changing input doesn't do anything...There's nothing coming out of the tubes at all...Pressing test to bring up test mode doesn't do anything either...I'm scratching my head on this one...wierd....The fans are moving and the led light on the rear...thats it...not even a blip in the tubes...I opened her up and don't even see a glow on the tubes...

Very unusual. Almost any problem kills the set so that it shuts off.

Possible problems:

-intermittent filament voltage. Check to see if you get the orange glow at the base of the tubes. No glow = no pix.
-bad connection in the HV section/PA board causing HV shutdown that does not create an error code.

Hi,
What about mute picture button? I'm not sure if the 1270 has one.
