I purchased 2 mec neck cards. I'm installing one on the blue and the other on green and if they work to eliminate the streaking with no candle flicker I'll be on the look out for a 3rd. I got both of these for 52.00 total so was happy about that. Now, do I just wrap up the extra wire from the 2 piece neck board that connects to the motherboard and leave it or remove it? It has a brown wire that looks like it connects to the next neck board connector. Here is a picture of it you can see the brown wire going off to the left. Thanks

Don't remove it!

That coax cable is delivering video signal from driver board to neck boards.

Thanks Ile, I did not remove that wire, and on closer inspection I found that it plugs into the 120 mhz amp. The connector is just little hidden.

I got one new neck board installed on the blue tube and it works great! No more streaking in blue and I must have had a tired neck board because I had to turn g2 down at least 4 turns I had it maxed out with the old board. Green is next, and I have not noticed any flickering.

Awesome news. If you do want to see if you have the candle flicker effect lower contrast and raise brightness until you can see the raster on the tube face. If the raster changes brightness randomly you have the candle flicker effect. It showed up on my screen on low IRE scenes the beginning of the music video for Chicane's Saltwater made it obvious. And it drove me nuts. On second thought you might NOT want to look for it.

Installed the new neckboard on the green and had to move the focus yoke forward almost 1/2 inch to get the mounting hardware on the tube. I cant move the yoke back, so what is the best way to refocus? Thanks

Set mid zone focus to 57 from menu and adjust optical focus. Then move focus yoke along tubes neck to find sharpest position and tighten clamp. Usually sharpest position is near deflection yoke, 1/4" gap or even closer. Then adjust all focus zones from menu.

Ile, Thanks for the input, I moved my focus block forward and it just got worse. I have to move it farther back, so I am going to have to remove the neck board and modify the mounting bracket to give me more adjustment towards the rear of the tube. Secstate thanks for the input also. I still have not seen any flickering, these neckboards are awesome! My wife even said that the pj looked better than ever. Is the G2 adjustment the same, adjust until the green led goes out?

Yes make sure it is warmed up and then adjust G2 pots slowly until LED goes out. Obviously do this while in the G2 adjustment mode in the service menu. Out of curiosity what year was your BD808s made in?

Before modifying clamp, check that focus yokes haven't been mixed. Green yoke should have different numbering than R/B. Mixing those could cause that focus problem I guess...

That was the same as mine. I always wondered if there was a running change to fix the flickering issue but that wouldn't explain it since your build date is the same as mine was. Must have been an issue with my projector or perhaps the P16 tubes (since the high resolution tubes were common to both by Data 808s and the Barco 1208s/2 I had).

I have the 180dvb22 tubes, maybe that has something to do with the flicker.

My focus yokes all have the same number on them and appear to be identical. I just trimmed the plastic back on the neckboard mount assembly and was able to position the yoke back to its original position. So I now have my data 808s with color glycol, schiempflug blocks, and 120mhz streak free neckboards on the blue and green tubes. Now I'm just waiting for one more for the red. Next will be LC chambers.
