I have had this projector for about 3 months and everything was good until the other night. The picture started flashing in and out and then went to a thin narrow line and started making noises. So I shut it down for a bit and turned it back on to find that it left a big red line mark on the screen.(shown in the Picture) I think it maybe focus block but don't know where to get the new one from. Also is this red line on the screen fixable? and if fixable about how much to fix it?

Unfortunately it's probably not worth repairing. Your V board failed and burned at least the green tube and/or the others. FWIW, that doesn't happen often. The V board is cheap, but the tubes are $200 each. Look into each lens with the power off with a flashlight to see which ones show a dark spot or line in the middle of the tube. More than one tube, and I'd seriously reconsider repairing it, and upgrade to a higher end CRT.

Is anything worth saving besides the red tube that still is good? Also what would be your recommendation for a higher end CRT projector in the price range of $1200?[/list]

I'd actually give you a bit of trade in for the HV board, as I just sold my last one. Everything else in the set is more or less junk, I've got lots of the other boards. Try throwing the rest of the parts either on eBay or in the buy/sell forum here.

I'd look at the NEC PG Xtra or the NEC XG sets for around that price. I've got some good XGs but with marked up cases (deep scratches and cracks), they got damaged when being deinstalled. Otherwise I have at least one good NEC PG Xtra with low hours (1500 I think) that I can ship in an original Runco box. Shoot me an email at curtpalme@shaw.ca and we can discuss further. Shipping to you will be about $150.

Either set will run circles around the Zenith when it comes to punch and sharpness. The only slight catch is that any other CRT will need to be mounted about 20% further back than where the Zenith was.
