Curt doesn't want them posted on this site and hurting his business which I understand. I have PM'ed you a link where you can retrieve a copy of the Data 808s manual which is the only version of the 808 manual I have. Tom W. actually went to the trouble to buy a paper copy and have it scanned in so ultimate thanks should go to him.

Hi,

I got a cheap but good BG 808 that I want to install properly. I have experience repairing colour TVs, so I should be able to handle that. When reading Curt's Tips I see many references to a service manual. Is it available somewhere or by someone?

thanks a lot

I'm not yet allowed to pm, as I have less than 5 posts. I just received the BG808, cleaned it thoroughly, and am ready to set it up and decided to read the FAQs and subscribe to the group. I have the install and owners manual downloaded, but theres for instance the 17V adjustment to be made etc.

Maybe you can pm me?

cheers

For set up the projector by user, the SM is really useless.
There's the Installation Manual
http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/BarcoGraphics808_Install.pdf

And for set 17v you can see the pictures in the 808's section.

Thanks, I knew that picture. But there are several other places where the SM is mentioned, and also since I'm sort of a technician who wants to know the insides I would very much appreciate to have the SM anyway.

Recently I repaired a dead Barco Monitor from the 70ies. It stood in my garage for 2 years until I came across the SM on Ebay. A lot of modules interacting with each other, it still took me a while before finding the real culprint. Actually, bad solder joints on the horizontal output module.

Smile

cheers

This is a funny post. I've got HARD COPIES of tons of manuals that I'd give away to someone willing to pay the ridiculous cost to ship 40lbs of photo copies, but no one wants them. Haha, haha, haha....

Funny how things change, I used to sell photocopied manuals for the cost of the copies, plus about $5. used to be around $30./copy with shipping....

Hi,

people still pay money for the originals. Usually I scan those I got hold of at 600dpi to have them accessible on an iPad or such. Thats about the same work as doing a hardcopy.

Do you have a list of your manuals?

cheers

I don't have a list, sorry...I've got(or had, haven't looked in years...) service manuals for NEC PG series, XG, 10PG, Sony G70, G90 D50, Barco 1208/808, Marquee 8500/9500, Ampro 4300(?), etc, etc. Installation manuals for pretty much all as well, and User manuals for most.
I had an NEC and Barco training manuals at some point too... there were some interesting tidbits in them, if I recall...
I've likely thrown some out, my basement is such a mess...all manuals I ever had were copied and posted by someone who I can't even recall their name now, its been that long, and I think his website is gone now too...

Too bad they're gone, interesting how the knowledge on certain models have gone to oblivion, and nobody cares anymore about them, like NEC PGs... I kinda had to reinvent its secrets when I was tinkered with mine, while the knowledge was readily available a few years earlier, but those people are rarely posting now (like you Elaine), which I can understand of course, it's just sad.
