Howdy!
What an absolutely WONDERFUL forum!
I Have a sony G70 that's giving me the error 21 code.
I turn it on and it shuts off right away.
I've read some of the posts and I understand that the problem could be a couple of things..... the code book says its the 115 v (HV) but I think I read that it could be a tube that is out?
My question is what do I need to do now? What steps do I need to take to diagnose?
And then where do I go from there?
Thanks
Jim

Hi! Welcome to the forum and thank you for NOT being a Chinese SPAMer ( I've deleted three tonight )
Give it until tomorrow and the G70 guys will pop in. In the mean time have you tried the search feature? There may be something useful there. I see the G70's come up quite often with issues. There's also the G70 section here you can look at:

If you need a board repaired Curt Palme is your man. I'm sure he'll pop in here too.

THat is usually the PA board that is under the lenses under the metal cover once you take the front plastic off. There's a pix in the link above.
Before you pull the board though, pop open the cover over the tubes, and make sure none of the tube necks are broken. ONce in a blue moon a tube neck cracks for no reason, and that can cause the same error. If the necks are still solidly on the tubes, then it's most likely the PA board, and as Analog says, I can repair that.

Howdy!
I opened the lid and checked out the tubes. They look intact nothing looked broken, all three tubes seemed to look exactly the same, is there something I should look for specifically on the tubes?
If I'm good to go on the tubes, then I was able to pull out the 'PA Board' (under the lenses - beneath the metal box)
Now if I send that to you what's my next step? (I noticed the 'proper' packaging and shipping) But what do you charge? and then say we get that board fixed..... and then there's something else, do we continue to diagnose?
Anyway thanks so much for the help
Jim

Hi,
today i got the same error code. Error code 21. How can i be sure that the error is based on the PA Board.
Thanks
Thomas

If it's not a shattered tube, then it's most likely the PA board. Note that each PA board is specifically calibrated to the set they are in, swapping in a random PA board might not work, and worst case shatter the tubes.

Shattered Tube = broken Tube / Neck ?
Mine is not broken.
Ok,
- the error could be the PA Board.
- you can repair it.
The PA Board is specifically calibratet but must not be calibratet again after fixing it cause the settings are fix and will not change by fixing the board.
Swapping a board is mostly not possible.
Right?
At last: How much?
Thanks
Thomas
