I ocassionally get 'ghosting' (a faint secondary image to the side fo the original) on the green tube of my NEC pg9000. any thoughts on the cause and more importantly the fix for this? this just started to happen in the last couple months or so.
Unfortunately the focus board went out on my projector last night or i would post pictures. any thoughts that perhaps the ghosting might be related to the failure of the focus board?
Some info on my focus board failure. my projector has been working fine (minus the occasional ghosting on green). Last night I adjusted the table that my projector was on, and ever since the signal to all 3 tubes is blurry. it's definitely the signal to the tubes and not my lens'z. I double checked my focus pots and focus ring on the tube but no. So at this point i'm calling my focus board bad.
what's interesting is the guy i bought the projector from (a couple years ago) gave me a small bag of parts. When i asked him what the parts were for his answer was "hopefully you never have to find out". Now that i look at my focus board the parts he gave me are the large part at the bottom (looking at how the board is mounted in projector) of the focus board and the few resistors in front of that part. So i'm curious if these parts are for a common failure that he expected, some kind of mod, or perhaps something that he did before and ordered extra set or parts in case it failed again. i haven't removed the focus board to really look at it yet.
I had the projector up for sale on craigslist before the focus board died so I planed on selling it anyway. I'm unemployeed and really don't have much if any money to put into fixing this so i'm really thinking that selling it on here for parts might be the way to go unless it's cheap to fix the focus board. I have plenty of soldering skills but no soldering iron, so at very least i guess i'll pick up a soldering iron and replace the parts that the guy gave me.
I do have a post up in the buy and sell forum to hopefuly get a better idea what the focus board will cost.
Thoughts on the ghosting??

Ghosting is usually caused by bad signal cables.
And yes, the Focus drive STK chip has died, well, one of them.
Curt can fix it, for a sum that is more than the value of a PG....

Mark is right on the ghosting, almost certainly a cable issue.
Same for the focus board issue, replace the STK's and you're likely good to go.

thank you for the feed back. it's appreciated. I replaced the large stk that was give to me with the projector, but that didn't fix it. i'll have to order the other stk chip and hopefuly that will do it. From looking at the board i can tell that all the parts connected to the heat sink have been replace before. So that answers why he gave me an extra stk chip with the projector. Well see if replacing the other stk does and if not i'll probably just look to part out the projector on here.
Thanks again for the help.
