|
|
i just got my vim2 and tried to install it in my marquee8000.
i t will not seat completely like the bnc card that it is replacing.
the bnc card kind of snaps into place and seats flush with the back panel.
the vim2 doesnt seem to want to seat completely and leaves a little more than the thickness of its backplate sticking out from being flush with the rest of the panel.
is this normal ?
i also cant tell if its actually seated as it doesnt -snap- into place like the bnc card.
thanks.

No, that's not normal. It should fit flush like the other cards so that you can screw the face plate to the chassis. Try pulling the VIM out and installing the MOOME card outside the PJ, then slide the VIM into it's slot as one assembly. Be careful of the BNC wires that you don't yank them. No need to fully pull the VIM, just enough so that you can slide in the moome card and see it seat on the connector. I found this to be the best way for the install to ensure your not bending anything.

Athan, I don't think that will work. It could be possible that there needs to be a small knockout taken out from the Moome card ti fit into the secondary slot right at the module connector. Do as Sparky says, and watch the module connectors as they mate up. If you do need to knock out a portion of the module connector, look for the indented lines in the plastic, and the knockouts will break right out with a pair of pliers.

Curt, I have used the moome card with the old style 2005-03p and the two newer style VIM's and there is no knock out needed on the moome card or the Vim connectors. Some times in the manufacture of the moome card the metal face plate is off a bit. i had the same issue on my one 8500 LongBow. Removing the multi standard decoder or blank cover will allow the moome card to go flush then you can put the blank card back on. There is enough play in the screw holes fr the face plate to make room for the moome card.

just watched a movie and it was kinda dark and red.
i think that i need to do the gamma setting and then it will be bright and correctly colored.
even a sd dvd upsampled in the sony bdp-s300 looked incredibly good compared to fury+gammax.
everything had much more depth of field.
thanks again.

Awesome! Now that I read the thead, I too had to loosen the screws to existing cards/plates to get everything to seat nice. Glad you got it up and running!

Nashou that's MP's VIM, from his bench machine. I think.
