It changes the amount of pin and key range. I've seen this before somewhere, I believe it was used for curved screens or simulator use.

Is this also what an ultra board looks like? I have never been graced by the presence of a Marquee Ultra

Yes, that's for use in projectors that are to be used in a dome. It extends the range of adjustment of foucs and geometry.

Your own mini-IMAX. Now that would be cool!

Do those dip switches on top shut it off? You may want to PM Scott (TSE), and he can give you some good direction.

I had a FGM with that box, I took it off because the customers machine was having wierd problems, unsteady (shaking) picture, etc. not sure this was the cause but it's better to take off non-factory add-on crap if you don't need it.

They're not new. They have to be built from existing Kanto-Denshi focus yokes, which must have at least a 9 pin connector on them if they're to be in a Marquee 8500 or 9500. The adaptation of them to being ideal for a Marquee requires
rewinding the internal coils and changing the magnetic strength so that it is optimized for the Marquee focus system.
I will not be able to remagnetize the original Thomson yokes due to size limitations on the toroid I'm using. I wasn't able to get the toroid I really wanted. Some jackass beat me to it and is probably using it for a doorstop. The K-D yoke magnets
will JUST fit. The Thomson system is too large in diameter.
It'll be at least a few more weeks before my remag rig is set up and tested. I've also got to get a gauss meter.
Fortunately, the fixtures I need are something I can make for myself.
