Someone please glaze me up and put me in the oven.  I went and bought another G70. Hell, people will start thinking I like Sony. 
Anyway, I couldn't help myself. This guy picked this G70 up and thought he would make a killing. Unfortunately, he couldn't get the colors to line up. His tech thought he needed a convergence board. Hmmm, could the problem have been that he didn't take the bolts out of the 120" holes?  When I looked in the lenses I could see that there was very little burn. It says 1100 hours and I can't see any burn on the blue and red. The green has a slight burn no worse than an "8", but more like a "9". The worst part was I tried talking him into keeping it. He just refused to let me leave without taking it. I now have a near mint G70 and parts pig. This should keep me satisfied for awhile.
No problem with convergence.

Now, the bad part. I won't be able to use it till I get back from Miami. At least I will be warm.
One other good thing is I found my DC board from my other G70 is still good.

How much did the screen set you back?
I think I'm more jealous that you have the garage door open rather than what's inside. Down with winter

So, everyone likes my screen.
I just looked for anything to throw an image on. I wanted to check the convergence before I did anything else. After carrying the thing across the yard, I am not sure I could move it inside and up the stairs.
As for the weather, I had a heater on. That said it was probably in the low 50s. Of course, I am heading to South Florida this week and it is only in the high 70s down there.

It wasn't that cheap, but it was $450. I could have gotten him down further, but a) I was freezing my butt off and b) I just didn't feel like pushing the issue. I might want to add that he was ten minutes away, so my time was about a hour and a half along with three dollars in gas. Plus, he was a nice guy that I could do some work for in the future.
For me, I thought it was better to get another G70 even if I could have gotten a better deal. I now have two, which gives me back up parts.

I notice you took a pic out in the Florida sun. You know not to take it out in the sun with the lenses on, yes? Otherwise fzzzzt there go your C-elements, fried like an ant under a magnifying glass.

Yeah, I knew that. The elements were safe, as it was hard enough bear hugging it across the yard. Also, it was the Atlanta sun and none of those pics showed the wear on the tubes. For pics, the best way is probably a lot of diffuse light. I might try a piece of plastic tomorrow to block the direct sunlight. Of course, the best way is on the screen.

Good guess. That sequence with Christian Bale looking at the plane and the camera panning in front of him is just magic. That is the first movie I recorded on my HD Tivo three and a half years ago. Deliverance is on there as well. If I could do Photoshop, then I might have to show this G70 making me squeal like a pig.

Damn, i thought i got my marq.8500 cheap as air. getting away with 665$ (neatly converted from swedish "krona"), but you beat me there. And i had to go across sweden to get it.

No kidding. $450 for a good, working G70 with 8-9/10 tubes is a great deal - especially if it was just down the road.
