Hi guys,
i have a barco data 600 projector, running at pal (576i) 16:9 with a dvdplayer and dvb-s receiver connected via rgbs. It worked fine for five years, but yesterday it broke while i was watching a movie.

First the convergence seems to fail and the picture turns dark within a second. I switched the pj off and found two defect fuses, F3 and F4 on the "Switched mode power supply module". Both are 250V/3.15A T. Because I want to finish the movie I looked for spare fuses and found two 250V/5A ones which i used to replace the broken ones. Yes, it turned out to be a bad idea. I was able to watch another 20 minutes or so, then the deflection fails again. I disconnected the power, waited for several minutes and hours but still the same situation:
The convergence on/off switch does still work as well as the test pattern/video input switch and the on/off switches for the individual tubes. However the convergence control potentiometers do not work anymore.
Today I replaced the fuses with the right ones, but it still does not work. I opened the convergence module and was unable to find signs of broken parts, except for some heat caused staining:

Here are two pictures, first with the convergence main switch off:

and with the switch on:

As mentioned before, turning the controls does not change anything.
I wonder if this is a known problem or if someone can help me locate the faulty component.
Big thanks in advance,
Till

THe service manual is on my site:

http://www.curtpalme.com/Barco400_Downloads.shtm

At this point, with the set being 20+ years old, it could be almost anything.

I've got a convergence board that you can have, but shipping from me to you will be about $100 USD.

thanks for the reply curt, i got the printed version of the service manual along with the projector Smile
A nice offer, but I think it's not worth to spend $100 for fixing the old machine.
I will start to check the single components and see if i can repair it, suggestions for starting points are welcome.

Otherwise I'll have to change to HD and buy a barco 808 or so Smile

thanks for your offer, I think I need a new convergence module and/or the switched power supply module. however the shipping seems to be much to expensive for such an old device ..
