but isnt rgbhv better then sync on green.
if so then ill be better of with a ati radeon 4890.
its not too expensive anymore around 150 euro.
think ill head out tomorrow and grab 1.
i want my marquee up and running.
have i told you that he is huge.....
lol
even though i knew the measurements i was still surprised.

I would definitely try a different source before swapping boards. Have an old PC you could try with a lower resolution? Actually scratch that, can you pull the video card an just use the onboard video from the VGA out? See if that does something first as it's the easiest to try.

ok guys thanks for all the input i really appreciate it.
luckily ive got a picture now.
i think the problem was the matrox card.
i bought an ati hd4890 card today, it has all sorts of goodies on it and is an excellent scaler of course.
i wanted to buy it anyway but this awkwardness speeded up things.
i think it might have something to do with the matrox perhaps not sending a high enough voltage so the marquee cant lock up.
anyway im extremely happy with the 2000yr model ultra and now its time to set the picture straight.
