|

Hello My projector has failed on me again. I recently sent curt nec6pg focus board to repair and got it back and things were working great up until recently.
I was adjusting the ampiltutde and also the contrast settings on the projector, when the projector went off completely and plastic smell started to come out. It stopped displaying a picture completely and would turn off after 10 secs. I then took the power out of the convergence board to see if that was the problem and the projector turned on and stayed on but still with out picture.
Today I tried turning the projector on again and even with the convergence board unhooked it still turns off after 10 seconds with out any picture. I noticed that the V fail red led light is on the deflector board.
Does anyone what the problem is and is it worth it to try and repair again?
I know that I am running the projector pretty far back for the type of screen im outputting,(15 foot back for a 130 inch screen) so im thinking i maybe overstressed it when I bumped the contrast up and set the amplitude down to -55 when I was playing around.
Thanks for the help

Does an error message come on on teh back of the unit? If so, what is it?
Do either of the red LEDs stay on on the deflection board while the set is powered up? (they are only supposed to flash when you power the set up.)
Disconnect the F and C boards and see if the set powers up.

Are you talking about the back of the unit where the power controls are? If so I see something flashing F8 and then stops flashing and displays two 0s and then the standby light comes on when it turns itself off.
The V red led light stays on , and the H one just flashes and turns off.
Also I tried to disconnect both F and C boards and the projector still turns it self off and I get a AP error code.

OK, F8 is a bad convergence board, but if that was hte only issue, it would work when you disconnected it.
It could be that the failing C board took out the power supply, that happens from time to time.
Email me regarding discounted pricing, but it might be an idea to go through the LVPS, deflection board and C board. I'll do it cheaply for you, then that nails all the problems in one shot that commonly fail in this set.
