|
|
Hey Guys,
What is the peak lumens output from the Sony 1292? Searching Curt's excellent website I see conflicting information.
On the CRT Primer, Sony section says:
| Quote: | | The Sony 1292 was introduced in 1995 as Sony’s flagship model. 110 Khz scan rate, 1200 lumens |
On the Sony 1292 Introduction page:
| Quote: | | Razor sharp performance with full 9” liquid coupled tubes with EM focus, 110 Khz scan rate, 1000 lumens |
And on the projector rankings and specifications page it says:
| Quote: | | Sony 1292 9" LC 700+ 2000x1600 |
I tried looking at the sales brochure, but the link is broken.
Anyone know the real figure?
Cheers.

I used to have a brochure, it used the 700 lumens figure, and from the dim, dim image I've seen from them, I'd be inclined to think that was accurate.
They have the drives really clamped down for better beam structure, light output is definitely sacrificed, IN MY OPINION, based on my experience owning a couple of them, but they are a very well defined image. Don't expect whopping light output though...

Thanks for the info. I'm in the process of replacing my old Panny 1085 with one of these beasts. I never had a problem with the meager 850 lumens it kicked out, although was a little surprised to find the Sony only had 700 lumens.
I've also moved to a new theatre room that I can totally black out, so hopefully the dimmer image (than from my Panny) shouldn't be a problem and I'm mainly concerned about better image resolutions and sharpness from the upgrade.
