It's for my Mitsu RPTV, but I'm assuming most things are the same. I think I've narrowed down an issue I've been having for about 6 months now to the green deflection yoke.
Symptoms are:
Started with image bowing in on the top & bottom then snapping back.
Random lines would start running horizontally through the picture.
I could put a fan in front of the TV and it would clear up after about an hour.
After about two nights of running the fan, I could remove the fan it the TV would be fine for a week or two.
Recently when the cycle started again, it would start to bow really bad and then shut off. I started messing around moving wires while it was on and noticed I can make the problems appear and dissappear while moving the wires going to the Defl-Yoke. It appears to be a problem on the small circuit board that has the plug as essentially that's all I'm moving around.
I can get a new one for around $50, but I'm sure it's just a solder problem as there does not seem to be much on the board. It's surrounded by plastic, so it looks like the yoke would have to come out to try and re-solder it anyway.
So any do/don'ts or tips on R&R'ing a yoke? I'm assuming all the glue will have to come off and everything will need to be reset. Is it best to leave it to a repair center if i don't have a lot of setup equipment?
Here's a picture of it. I believe I may be able to get a soldering iron to the three pins the copper attaches to. Is that most likely where the solder is bad if moving the board causes the issue?
Thanks,
Kevin D.

I dont really want to say whether you should do it yourself or not. I dont know your capabilities. But if you do decide to then you will have to do the bottom of that board also including the pins.

Well I routed the bottom cable around the top cable to put downward pressure on it and had no issues at all last night. Half way through the Saints game today, *poof* it cut off and wouldn't come back on. I could then hold pressure the opposite way and get it to come on, but I knew it would eventually go out again.
Not wanting to take the tube appart, I took a dremel and cut the plastic shell away that covers the board. De-soldered all the coil leads and pulled the board out. Reflowed everything everything on the backside and soldered the coil leads back on.
TV turned right on and no issues for the last 15 minutes. I'm not going to dare call it fixed, but so far so good.
