|
|
I have a PG9200 with a RGVHV input from a Lumagen video processor.
This past weekend I watched a football game and everything was good, but later as we were watching another program the picture changed, so I checked and there was no red output on that CRT. I changed to the static convergence screen and got a red CRT output as part of the convergence process. I could shut the red off and on during convergence, but when I changed back to the program the red would not work. The red also works when any text (from the projector) is on screen.
The next two days when I turned on the PJ the Red Tube was working and continued to work for two to three hours each night.
Today I turned on the PJ and after being on for about 30 minutes I actually heard a "snapping" sound and the Red went out again and it has stayed out since. It still comes on for convergence or menu text.
How do I verify whether the Neck Board or the V-Board may be bad?
Any thoughts on what I should look at or check???
Thanks

Well its not a neckboard or v board, if you mean video. Swap your red and green bnc inputs and see if you have red and not green. If still no red then try reseating the boards in the card cage.

My vote is also outside the projector. Wiggle the red BNC at both ends. I have found that I need to re-seat the BNC's once a year to keep noise down and tight connections. Just disconnecting and reconnecting is enough to clean the contacts.

I did switch the BNC's and the Red worked the Green did not, so it is in the cable or before. I have a HD FURY 1 at the output of the Lumagen HDP feeding the cable that runs to the PG9200. I have to take my entertainment center apart to get at these connections and check it out. I will have to do that tomorrow.

After taking my setup apart I discovered that the VGA gender changer connected to the HD FURY was not making good contact - after making sure it was secured the Red Tube is now working properly.
Thanks for the inputs.

It turns out I was wrong. I thought the gender changer was the problem since the Red started working after I unplugged and re-plugged it in, but after that the Red kept going off periodically I tried all of the connections several times and nothing happened. I then decided that it must be the HD FURY, so I took the housing off and plugged everything back together and restarted the system and the Red tube was back on but it went out again later, so I sprayed the main chip on the HD FURY circuit board with a freeze spray and the Red Tube came on - later I repeated this when the Red tube went off again and the Red tube came back on.
So the problem has been the HD FURY all along - I have only had it for a few months, so it appears that the reliability of this unit is suspect. Now I have a small USB fan blowing on the HD FURY circuit board and the system is still working, so I will monitor it to see if the fan solves the heat problem.
