Well I'll just get to the point, I can't get my "new-to-me" 9pg xtra to display a 1080i signal from my HDfury2. Whenever I try to create a signal entry for it, it comes up as "H-FREQUENCY OVER LIMIT CAN NOT SIGNAL ENTRY" which is weird because it should scan to 3x what the 1080i signal requires. I have replacements for every board, so I can change anything out. But why is it telling me the h-freq is too high when i know it is not? Also, the video is rolling vertically like it is not getting sync.

Thanks for the help,
Greg

Double check your RGBHV connections I think the Fury2 will output component....Make sure it's set to RGBHV.....Does it sync on any resolution?

Mike

yeah, the fury is set to rgb. I replaced the system (it had the scramble of death), wave, control, and deflection boards, and now the h-frequency over limit is gone, it just shows unregistered signal. However, the video is still rolling down very fast like it can't get sync. What could be causing this? I have tried 480p, 720p, and 1080i over hdmi via the fury2 and the original fury, and it's the same problem. It locks on to a composite signal just fine, it's just the rgb with hdfury that is causing this. unfortunately, I have no other rgb sources to try it with, just the fury1 and fury2. How would I check if the fury is sending it 1080p? I thought it couldn't change the change the resolution and just passed everything through...

Thanks,
Greg

ah, good question Macguyver, but easy answer - i hooked it up to my plasma as well, and set the only output resolution to 1080i. I was able to confirm that 1080i is the output by putting it through an old cheap splitter that only does the edid on input 1 (P50 Plasma), plugging my projector into the 2nd (no edid) output. Then I turn the plasma on, then the projector on, and it is getting 1080i

So I don't think it is source related. OOTOH - I kida feel like an idiot, but i looked literally EVERYWHERW and could not find it for the life of me - I got the RGB in RGB, but what colours are the H and V sync connectors I have been assuming the white is horizontal, and the black is the vertical. Please correct me if im wrong.

So I'm pretty sure it something

BTW sorry if everything sounds or is not used correctly as i took my ambien beffore going to bedand whoa[/b]

I'm not quite grasping your splitter, plasma, projector hookup and verification here but here's what I'm trying to determine. If you set your device to say 1080i then connect it to the fury, I believe the fury hdcp will default the device back to 1080p. I believe the device must be hooked to the fury and with everything on, the device must then be changed to 1080i.

I'm also curious if the boards you swapped were also from a PG9 Extra.

Normally one would suggest trying another input device to confirm if the projector is functioning properly. At this point its hard to determine which device is causing the problem. A VGA breakout cable would be a suggestion.

I agree, before swapping out the boards use a vga-bnc cable and run a signal from the PC before swapping boards. Eliminate things in the video chain before flipping boards.

Test the source and HD-Fury on a CRT monitor.

And yep, test the Xtra with a PC.

Ok well I checked the projector with my gf's computer, and it locked on to everything I threw at it. And the splitter setup was just used to verify the output resolution, otherwise the hdmi was going straight from the receiver/hddvd player to the projector. It worked by letting the first device interact with the edid and the second device simply tapped off the video signal, with no edid going to the second device at all. While it's utterly worthless as an hdmi splitter, it's come in handy for a couple of problems now...

Would the fact that I don't have the power supply for the fury's be causing this problem? Can I go get a wall-wart and coaxial power jack to fit it from ratshack? Also, how would I edit the hdfury so that it only lists 1080i as the capable resolution?

Thanks again,
Greg

See if this will work. Connect the 612 HDMI directly to the fury and the fury to the projector. Then connect 1 of the 612s regular video outputs to a regular tv or such. Turn everything on and access the 612 menu on the tv. Go to the HDMI output section and make your settings. Does the projector now lock on? If not is the blue light on the fury on?

SOLVED! Wow what are the chances that both VGA-BNC breakout cables I have (one brand new, one that came with the used hdfury1) were bad? Picked up a new breakout from the Micro Center by my house and whammy, whaddya know it works like a champ.

Thanks for all the help guys,
Greg
