Fame (1980) [Blu-ray]

"You want fame? Well, fame costs and right here is where you start paying, in sweat!" - Some dance teacher in snuggly 1980's leotards

Ok, not likely something I'll be watching any time soon but hey! We have to keep the wife happy too right? Best part is we'll likely be able to do it for considerably less than $20 using the Amazon pre-order guarantee ... - Kal

Warner Brothers has scheduled 'Fame (1980)' for a Blu-ray release on January 26.

The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: Class reunion commentary with branching video highlights and featuring director Alan Parker and co-Stars Lee Curreri, Laura Dean, Gene Anthony Ray and Maureen Teefy; Vintage featurette: On Location with Fame; Featurette: Fame Field Trip - visits school that inspired the movie; Q&A interviews with director F. Gary Gray and producer Patricia Charbonnet; Theatrical trailer; and a CD Sampler with four songs from the movie soundtrack.

Plot Synopsis:

Seven classes a day and a hot lunch. That’s what New York City’s High School for the Performing Arts guarantees. Stardom? That’s something the school’s teenage musicians, actors, dancers and dreamers strive for.

Fame sings the body electric, celebrating the growing-up process of honing talent, confronting realities, finding love, living life. Director Alan Parker brings an energetic style to the crisscrossing stories of students (including future Academy Award winner** Irene Cara, Paul McCrane (ER), Barry Miller (Saturday Night Fever) and two who returned in the later TV series, Gene Anthony Ray and Lee Curreri). Nominated for six Academy Awards,* Fame won Oscars for its dynamic score and title tune – and inspired a shoot-for-the-stars 2009 remake.

That my friend, is a younger, Very tight Bodied, Debbie Allen. Sister of Phylicia Allen (the mom on the Cosby Show). Married to Norm Nixon, All star guard for the Championship LA Lakers.

She was also the Lead Choreographer in the Film. And later directed the TV show.
