Need JUST the lamp for Proxima DP5800 projector. I have the housing. I don't want to pay the premium for the whole lamp. I got a lamp for the projector and re-plastered it and it goes off and on at regular intervals, makes like a buzzing sound. keeps repeating this process. its driving me crazy. what would cause this? i got a picture for like 2 seconds and then shuts off again. I took a video of it too if it will help. Did i get the wrong voltage? AC or DC? this is the power specs....
LAMP: Metal halide lamp 250W
POWER SUPPLY: AC100 ~ 120V, 5A / AC220 ~ 240V, 2A

I don't know if you'll get a good answer to your question. I guess it could be the bulb or the ballast. I'd try someone like www.projectorcentral.com to see if someone there has a source for raw bulbs, try eBay as well, but generally speaking, digital sets are disposable and are not repairable.

Otherwise, find the same model on eBay, you can usually find them cheap in nonworking condition, and hope that the two sets don't have the same issue, and make one unit out of two.
Cheers!

so you think the lamp i have is fine? you think its the projector... because the lamp that originally came with it blew pretty violently. it made a loud pop accompanied with some smoke.

Tough to say, I have little to no experience with digitals. You might get some more info from the DWIN post I'm about to put up.

Probably the ballast. When a bulb blows violently it usually takes out the ballast too.
