My Pre/Pro has an RS232 port. The rest of the system is run by a computer.
I am looking for information regarding how to connect a touchscreen to control the devices. I know nothing about this, so, be gentle.
Thank you
Darren

What kind of touch screen do you want to use? What is Pre/Pro? What is your budget? There are many ways to use a touch screen. It depends on your budget and engineering source.

You offered to help, but, don't know what a Pre/Pro is?

If you are controlling your system via a PC, you're halfway home. Your post is vague, but it sounds like you want to control your pre/pro through the serial connection. This may be easy or excruciatingly difficult, depending on whether or not drivers are available and/or how good you are at writing code. IR is probably the best bet for someone who admits to knowing nothing about it.
Do you want a wireless or hardwired touchscreen? Right now, any wireless system requires compromises (limited battery life, etc.). Hardwired is the cheapest and easiest. Buy a touchscreen off Ebay. ELO is a common brand. The touchscreen becomes your computer monitor and will require an AC connection for power, an RGB connection for video, and a serial connection to provide the mouse functions back to the PC. You must be using automation software if you are controlling some of your system with your PC. This setup will cause your user interfaces to appear on the touchscreen and your fingertouch becomes the mouse.
If you need more serial ports than your computer provides, you'll have to get something like a Moxa serial port expander card.
Hope this helps.
