I am new to the crt projector. reading setup manual for mounting and lens adjustments. Manual not clear on toe settings, they are adjustable for screen widths. Any Ideas where to set? There are adjustment mark guides but do not know their meaning. Also reading to adjust lens by backing off screws and then adjusting to get proper centering. I assume it is ok that lens stay loose if needed to make proper adjustments. I have 7 foot ceiling in basement and are afraid of bumping unit to make measurements off.

No, the lenses cannot be loose, otherwise you will not get proper focus.

the key to proper setup is to use as much width on the tube face as possible, and to center the rasters left to right on the tube face, that's what the DC adjustments on the setup remote are for (bottom arrows on the remote when you're in the service mode).

Set the DC centering to approx 0 for each color, the green tube is used as a reference. You then use the R and B toe in adjustments (mechanical) to tweak the tubes.

As for the tube focusing adjustments, the spring loaded clips behind the lenses was a late add-on to the sets. It gives a bit of Scheimpflug adjustments to the corner focusing. I'd tighten the lens bolts tight, then back them each off about 1/2 turn. Focus the lenses for best focusing, then play with the bolts to get the corner focus even better. It's typical that one corner is always a bit off on the 895, the cheap plastic lenses limit the overall focusing of the set, but it's a good 1080i set.
